These chaps seem to have a 50% off sale on their products. You might try giving this noise reduction plug a go for a lark. Looks to be about $50.00 in Yank currency.

thanks guys i was interested in virtos but its dx not vst ... maybe i'll sit for a while and think about the voxengo one, or soundsoap... pricey but maybe worth it since there's really bugger all vst options at the moment.

Something like the old Steinberg Denoiser ...
