Getting a Song on the Internet

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

:help: What site can I go to that would enable me to download a song I created to share with others? :?:

It is a song that has no copyright, and I do not care to copyright it.

It is a song that could possibly offend someone (I went for a horror movie theme and it's about cannibalism). I add that because one site I went to said that songs submitted cannot be about anything illegal. Eating people was illegal last I knew.

There are a ton of sites out there where you can upload songs and allow people to stream & download them. I did a little googling & found a good list of sites that will host your music.

MySpace is popular I think... Lots of alternatives btw, like maybe a homepage of your own at your internet provider.

This is not true. At the moment you create your own creation, you HAVE the copyright. It's yours and nobody can take it. Registering and administration is another thing, but the RIGHT is YOURS, always.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image
My MusicCalc is served over https!!

Thank you, kind people. I so like KVR. I find it an invaluable resource with knowledgeable people roaming within it.

I do already have a myspace account, and I think I will upload it there. I have been reluctant because of the copyright issue, but am reassured.

Thank you again :tu:

- mySpace: popular
- download.com: recommendable
- audioshots' auditorium: recommendable
- (any webspace offering site that accepts mp3s) & post it at KVR

...unless you give it away or sell it.

sites like mySpace usually ask you to give 'em some non-exclusive rights so they can distribute your stuff, or even use it to advertise the music on their site, put it on CDs etc... better read the legal stuff if you wanna be sure.

Eating people was illegal, singing about that was not illegal - last I know. ;-) :D

You might want to check http://creativecommons.org if you want to use a construction like that.

//edit
This, because the copyright is already and automatically yours, as pointed out earlier.

All of my songs have a Creative Commons license. If you want your music to be openly available to anyone for any use then this might be something to look into. You can customize the type of license you want - some disallow commercial use, some disallow use without attribution, some allow any use whatsoever, etc.

edit: whoops, above poster beat me to it :)

Here it is. Don't be too harsh on me... it's only my second completed song.

I just looked at the creative commons license site and that is a great idea. I could use that often in the future. Thank you :)

Whoa Nick I just heard your "I don't know" song and it is super.

Thanks :D there will always be more on the way, and I think the one I'm working on now will turn out better.
