i like to track at a least 4 guitar tracks per song. with AT2, my computer is starting to sweat at that point. i've got a an AMD athlon xp 3400+ with a gig of ram. while not the most recent and kick ass system, it should do the job i would think?

anyhow, anyone else finding AT2 to take up a lot of CPU before they even get some bass and vocals down?

freezing is not an option for me as i like to tweak on the fly.

ps. i know AT2 has been out for a while, but i only got my free dongle a month or so ago, so i've finally had time to get to know AT2.

just a bit disappointed i guess........

You might want to bump up to 2GB of RAM, that might help. The AMD XP 3400+ is an older (relatively speaking) chip too. With the price of the X2 3800+ down to about $150, it might be time for an upgrade.

In such cases, I turn off the high resoloution and oversampling options of AT2, until my production is done. With this, CPU load is much lower, sound quality only a bit, just enough for tweaking and mixing.

Before I do the final master bounce, I switch them all on again, and freeze the track(s).

Should work with your machine, too (although I'm on mac...)

I just upgraded to a AMD Athlon 4200 X2 and AT2 still gives me a bit of a problem when using more than one instance. I can run two of them just about.
