Tribal House Beatz wrote:Out of curiosity i ran a little test with FL STUDIO 6 and CUBASE SX 3!...I imported the same loop into both hosts at the same tempo. Cranked up the volume too 100% in Fl studio or 0DB...Did the same in Cubase...Volume at 0db.......no effects.....no eq....no limiter.....no normalization....NOTHIN!!!! Both master chennels in both hosts were at 0db

Rendered both files as a wav at 44.1khz 16 bit..

Heres what FL STUDIO 6 sounded like
http://mysite.verizon.net/bennybonez/CL ... ST%201.wav

Heres what Cubase SX 3 sounded like
http://mysite.verizon.net/bennybonez/CL ... ST%202.wav

Explain to me...Why is one louder and more full sounding...That being the cubase one if i kept both volumes at the same exact level and rendering at the same exact quality??????? :x :x

Is the FL studio sound engine a tad weak????

hey just post the original loop here (not played through any host) and I'll tell u which host is better 'I'll analyze all three wav's with a 8192 FFT point spectral tool and post the results

I'm itching to get started a web page about audio myths, however it's not something a company can really do (it would simply discredit it).

But surely people need a web page explaining that if their track don't sound good, it's not because of 64bit or dithering, how level is mixed with quality [there are serious references about this already], that mp3 is a lossy format, etc.

Surely it's more constructive than jumping on the user's naiveness and selling him whatever dumb thing he thinks he needs/wants?

Now with improved MIDI jitter!

Looks a bit too crowded, I mean, not dedicated to that. Could be a subset of that wiki, that could exist & pointed to separately, maybe.

Anyway, I (or anyone in the business) can't really take part of this, unfortunately.

really? what does this mean?

it's called a question.

and yes, it's something i have learned not to do when it comes to FL studio. I once asked an innocent question here about the legacy FX, and got an entire thread of flaming for it.
resistors are futile you will be simulated

really?

ok so if I ask if you're an asshole, it's only a question, right?

yes... well, a french question :P  but yes.
i don't know tony. I don't really see the connection between an honest question about a real difference (even if it turned out to be just volume, there is not documentation to that effect that i have seen here, though it may exist) in the .wav files, and a veiled (thinly) insult -- even if the insult is actually an unintended insult to my intelligence instead of the rather meaningless term "asshole".
I think you are being too sensitive about it. FL is truly awsome software; you don't need to defend it so vigorously, it does a pretty good job of defending itself, if you look at sales figures, and thousands of happy users, and basically just the quality and VfM of the product. Why don't you relax a bit?

I think 'weak' is as pejorative as 'asshole', which you seem to take as an insult

I'm not defending FL, I'm sharing my thought, which is, I find it sad that users can't bother to educate themselves about audio stuff. Does it need a PHD to understand what 'audio summing' is about?
We all know it's easier to rely on the price or whatever award-winning producer uses, rather than searching for info.

now for his defense, he at least bothered to do a test. Just not far enough, and jumped to easy conclusion.
