Hello,

Izotope Trash has a great tape delay module that can go from fairly clean but warm to rather warped. Worth a try?

man do i ever wish i had one of the reel-to-reels that i used at my high school radio station! i DID do some tape delay & multiple overdub echo with them and they sounded sweet! even after a dozen plus passes between two decks adding one vocal overdub at a time, they didn't destroy the gary numan riffs from telekon i was playing in between talking.

the NICE thing about those decks was that they were TUBE units. sure, they were mono, but they sounded nice. i wish i had thought to try and overload them on purpose. i bet that would have been gnarly.

as to the VST units, why not just run your signal through a real tube unit to grunge it up? i asked about turning digital analogue in another thread, and alot of people were using the electro harmonix 2ube stomp pedal to fatten everything from synths to vocals. it would stand to reason that it would work for tape delays too. even better, if possible, put the unit into a feedback loop so it adds more grunge each pass.

i definately like the sound of "dub reverb" and have made notes on everyone's suggestions. i was a bit surprised no-one mentioned the "fripp" unit i've seen a few times and heard mentioned here as well.

Has anyone mentioned Dubstation yet?

Dubstation doesn't model a tape delay but a bucket brigade delay
