I'm thinking of changing my host.
Now I'm using Cubase SX3 and I like what I've heard about Ableton Live.

I've D/l the Live6 demo and I realized that the workflow in Live6 is very different from the one I'm used to in SX3
and its hard for me to grasp the live concept of sequencing...

I'm looking for a tutorial (free or not) designed to help me convert

Maybe someone can post a small tutorial on how to create a simple track in Live6,
using a few one shot samples, few loops and a VSTsynth or two.

Have you tried the onscreen tutorials provided with the demo?

If not go to Help > Lessons Table of Contents and go through the Quick Starts. I certainly found that they really helped when transfering from another sequencer.

Ableton Live video tutorials at askvideo.com are excellent - and price wasn't bad. They're based on version 5 but you'll be 99% there for v6.
