----I kind of doubt it, not with a month to vote. Some people will be biased, some will not be able to try out all the plugs, and some will just vote with their heads instead of their ears, but there's plenty of voting time for some interesting results. If anything, I think the devs having a strong presence on the forum meanwhile, addressing issues, and answering questions, will help even things out. Some plugs need more explanation than others ya know. And besides, yer not the only underdog here, so keep yer head up eh, and stick around, there'll be more chances to mention your entry this month, maybe even in the *instruments* section if someone is looking for a synth that does what yours is good at. :)

Yeah for sure, I know I'm not the only underdog here. Heheh, sorry I didn't mean to sound like I thought I was if I did. I was sure to say 'us' to refer to us no-names in this crowd. :hihi:

But yeah, I got your hint, I just may drop a thread in there and see what I can stir up. ;)

Hi,

Thank you very much :D
All credit on the Filter goto Dave Haupt, great and very efficient
( 32 mono filters used ).

Rob.
Well, nethertheless, this one is among the best i have tried so far.

And i have also just been checking to the BetabugsAudio Lasagne eq : it is fine, too !
It says it is an emulation, ,buti don't know from which gear but it sounds sweet.

.. i downloaded Matryx from SQ4, but in the zipped folder i only see an .exe file ,and as it looks like a big thing, i was wondering if any manual/hint/help online was available (i don't know if here is the best place, but i didn't find anything about this one anywhere else)...

I haven't tried Buzzride yet... I think a Voxengo plugin is also a spectral compressor, but i never gave it a try... ANy opinions about this one ?

... and i also dled Uloop, but the screenshot is... well... there is nothing very explicit... ;) (but the live looping thing seems very nice)...

I will try all that tomorrow, but i'm curious to have any opinion, too.

I've just had my first chance to play.

I like MiniVyn alot. It has a similar feel to an old Jen I had.

I also like the Balthor Piano - the lack of velocity sensitivity is a pain, so it has limited use.. but it's a great sound!!

I like superubbish, but not convinced I can use it..But Ido really like it!

Those are my first impressions..

Oh, and of course it goes without saying that Lunchbox is alot of fun, as is Collide and Play :)

Anyone been lucky with Buzzrizer yet?

I'm truly blown away - A BIG thanks to ALL the devs.

So far I'm loving Cubix the most, but (thanks to Matryx) you could make music forever with no other software!

While I did get a fair amount of decent analog bass sounds out of it, I personally feel the filtering lacks a bit of character. Also I was getting spikes upward of 9-10% cpu on my dual-core athlon 64 x2.

The cascade filter design behind those 4 simple "filtering" knobs on Ritual is something i'm very personally proud of. It takes the very common SE analogish sound, and makes it much warmer and richer. The custom supersaw oscillator I designed helps out a bunch too.. ;)
Alrighty, so this is where I take off my glove and challenge-slap your competence. ;)

I wasn't going to reply to this until I had used your synth and pushed it, gotten it to its extremities, and I take great offense with you telling me my filter design, perhaps one of the big selling points of my synth, has no character. I can almost completely pick apart your design by ear, and I can tell that not all that "warmer and richer" sound is coming from your filter, but rather partly your generator stage. Either you've purposely overamplified your oscillators or you have poor levels management, but I can tell they are hot by listening to your supersaw setting (which personally I also wonder if it wasn't multiple saw waves stacked with the supersaw knob having a cascading multiplier effect on each respective oscillators pitch, but anywho...) and hearing all kinds of clipping in it. And also, just to satisfy the question, I did turn the saturation knob all the way off before I came to this conclusion. As with your filter, I noticed it had some sharpness to it when you drove the resonance fairly high, but looking at the .SEPs that it spit out into the root file of the plug-in .DLL, I can't help but think you used the native 'Moog Filter' from SynthEdit hearing how steep the resonance curve is. Although it could also be that you stacked some SV Filters in series, I doubt it because the tone of your filter is a little too edgy. The delay idea I toyed with myself before scrapping it in my own design, I imagine you took a 'Feedback Delayed' module (or whatever it's called that allows feedback loops in SE) and slapped a normal delay unit immediately after it, to get that effect of tuning the feedback for a sort of optimal bass response. So you want to talk about character or filters, how bout you build a non-linear filter then we chat about it. ;)

Oh, and one more thing, I dare you to try and guess my filter design. I can guarantee you you won't be able to, by one or two key elements you won't.

Cheers,
-Blu

As i always say.. the real proof is in the pudding ;)

A month is a solid time for people to actually USE these plugins.. and give them a spin into their creative process. A nice GUI, and some handy presets are well & good.. but a plugins longevity is in it's usefulness and versatility in the long haul.

Maybe you should scrap the voting, get all the devs to a disused warehouse on the edge of town and settle it like men.

The first rule of developer challenge is you don't talk about developer challenge...
It's a rave, Lewis!

buzzriser is my fave. i've been using it all day

the more i played with cubix, the more i played with cubix

mini vyn is a refreshing reprieve from the same old digital sound. i put it up there with minimogue luxus

super rubbish runs through my nervous system

zombie fungus crunches and clangs the dull

can you guess how i'm voting?
