Just curious why I see every sequencer EXCEPT Logic 7.x MAC discussed (except for comparison sake) ..

Logic 7.2.3 on a Mac Pro is my current DAW of choice (only because I fell in love with Logic on the PC side and then Apple came along and looked at Emagic's PC userbase and "stuck it in, twisted it, and broke it off" and I had to many projects in the hopper to switch DAW's so I moved to mac) but I don't see anyone talking about Logic features.

I get the feeling perhaps its 90%% PC based users here - which is cool by me since I still hold PC in higher regard from Apple with the exception of my DAW.

I really don't like the nazi-esque apple-run Logic forums and have been looking for an actual vBulletin based alternative to LUG and apple-controlled forums.

As for Logic 8 that is dropping soon, EMapple has the logic v8 beta testers under signed NDA's so they can't discuss features, but they claim the new v8 features will 'make everyone $hit their pants' according to a few of the beta testers.

Finally, I'll reiterate a big f*ck you to Apple for throwing tons of ca$h at those stinkin' emagic germans (and this is COMING FROM a german) to sell out their PC userbase and go Mac-only, stealing my beloved sequencer from the PC platform. To think that in the last music convention (i forget if it was NAMM or MusikMesse - I think MusikMesse) before Apple's buy-out, that the emagic reps in tbe booth were saying the 5.5.x PC version was actually running better than the 5.5.x mac version).

No all us Logic/mac users have been chased away by so many many hatefull anti apple/mac threads. Anytime we try to solve a problem etc someone will derail the thread. If you want to get usefull answers regarding logic/mac this is NOT the place. Try www.bigbluelounge.com instead.

what we need is a sticky logic thread in hosts, me and putte can mod it

so any uncool people tying to interfere can get their asses kicked out by a cool hun and a cool brit.

I migrated to mac/logic in Feb.

Version 8? Forget it! I've got a long ways to go to get my head around 7!

I'm considering the jump myself. Honestly, I think I can make more and better music with a single DAW and limited effects and instruments, especially if the DAW is designed for the hardware. I like the idea of a music only computer. Right now I am testing with a MacMini core duo with 2 Gig of memory and an external 300 Gig firewire drive. If it goes well then I will sell off some hardware and software and try for one of those cool Mac Pro's with multiple core duo processors and two video cards. Maybe then I can also be a cool outsider that takes a lot of abuse.

KVR is great _ but I've found it's mostly PC users here - Check out www.osxaudio.com Great forums where about 70% use Logic 7

That's what people on LUG (the mailing list) have eluded to - I take it with a grain of salt though but having been a former Logic beta tester myself in the 5.x PC days, I know some of the people and they've been on the beta group forever and generally haven't blown hot air when they've started pre-release chatter.

Who knows but right now 7.2.3 is working great.

You know what - one of the best tutorials that I'm always pointing friends to is the 3 DVD set at askvideo.com (no I DON'T work for them but I've used their DVD's to get up to speed on Ableton Live 5 as well as Cubase SX3 when I was considering switching to it).

Though I'm a Logic user since v4.x on the PC and THOUGHT I knew the program pretty well, I got the askvideo tutes for the hell of it to see if it might round out some of my knowledge, and I was pleasantly surprised because there were a LOT of features I never knew existed even after all these years using it having stumbled through/learned myself.

Anyway I can't recommend those video tutes highly enough - dedicating let's say 4 to 8 hours of a saturday or sunday 'schooling' yourself in your sequencer of choice with one of those videos will pay for itself in increased efficiency and workflow many times over.

Yep, the MacProVideos are good as well, especially for newbies to get an overview of the concepts.

Yep I became aware of the MacProVideos recently as well - look good but haven't bought any yet. The 10 sample video I watched though, the guy's voice is really annoying to me for some reason - like a 15 year old teenage kid - dunno if anyone could stand 9 straight hours of that.

Funny, I recognize your blog - you must be on the apple forums. COOL BLOG!

Anyway video tutorials first, and then once basic proficiency is down, your blog second! that's the way to go.
