Hi Tuz,
I've got a update, some presets had too low volume and i forgot to mention that VST is a steinberg trademark, and added my name in the .pdf

hehe,. tnx!
I do have some ideas for some updates after the contest, like
tempo synced LFOs to things like the main frequency control knob.
other updates will be more presets, and maybe some GUI updates ( some elements don't look good enough imo
).
But that will be after the contest.

Good to hear i didn't make a useless plugin
Only thing i haven't tested is the response on vocals, i've found a site with the vocal frequencies and was planning on adding some of those :

No, it is NOT uselessXGmode wrote:Good to hear i didn't make a useless plugin![]()
I only wish it had more presets, maybe, both things like the moog filterbank, and things like the Aleton Resonator (with cities preset names : berlin, rome...).
And i think this thing has everything to become a great vocoder

Hi,sinkmusic wrote: I only wish it had more presets, maybe, both things like the moog filterbank, and things like the Aleton Resonator (with cities preset names : berlin, rome...).
More presets are planned, will be added after the contest, because i first need to add LFOs.
Then redo all the presets i had and add new ones.
I have no experience with the moog filterbank or aleton resonator, and on a first google search don't get a lot of usefull information. Info on that aleton resonator seems nonexistant hehe,.
Do you have some info on that ?
mmm,. i think a vocoder is something different.sinkmusic wrote: And i think this thing has everything to become a great vocoder
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocoder#Mu ... plications
quote :
Early vocoders
Most analog vocoder systems use a number of frequency channels, all tuned to different frequencies (using band-pass filters). The various values of these filters are stored not as the raw numbers, which are all based on the original fundamental frequency, but as a series of modifications to that fundamental needed to modify it into the signal seen in the output of that filter. During playback these settings are sent back into the filters and then added together, modified with the knowledge that speech typically varies between these frequencies in a fairly linear way. The result is recognizable speech, although somewhat "mechanical" sounding.
If i read this correctly my plugin is definitely no vocoder,. i would need to make some changes to the structure.
And Synthedit doesn't have 1 sample feedback, instead it's blocksize ( some 96 samples or so ) ..dunno if that would screw things up hehe.
I'll read some more about it, maybe i can make the changes or maybe try building a vocoder from scratch.
Thanks for the comments,
Cya,
Rob.

has intro info on Ableton Live 4's Resonator plug-in
btw sinkmusic
did you mean vocoding in the same way as the above link, bottom of page?

Tnx for the link, on a first glance i see that the ableton resonator uses short delays with feedback.bobsled wrote:http://emusician.com/mag/emusic_twang_p ... index.html

I used bandpass filters where you can turn up the Q for resonance.
So it's a little bit different hehe,.maybe i'll make another resonator with delays if i can find a good and very efficient one.
But for now my priorities lie with adding LFOs and more presets
Will keep this method in mind tho
Cya,
Rob.

I have Ableton Live, so i have the plugin, yes. I don't know what kind of info would be useful to you, jsut tell me.XGmode wrote:I have no experience with the moog filterbank or aleton resonator, and on a first google search don't get a lot of usefull information. About the moog filterbank, AudioDAmage made an amulation about thismodule. There is no demo for the plugin, but some very nice mp3 to listen to his sound.

To say it quick, a vocoder is not a filterbank, as it is not a filter, but a way to "control" one sound by another (using the timbre of one with the "notes" of another).
But a vocoder analyzes the signal with bands (the more bands a vocoder have, the more accurate the result should be -well, that's the theory-).
But many vocoder added a filterbank stage to shape the sound and give it more "character"...I have a MAM vf11, and use it more as a filterbank than as as vocoder, and i find in REzon8 a lot of similarities...

Some more infos...
To get an idea of the way Ableton's Resonator can sound,n you can give a try to these free plugins :
macomate : http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1389.html
arcdev resomatic : http://www.device.arcanedevice.com/?sig_mod
david e ross Peaking Filterbank : http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2301.html
.. But you're right, i guess this is not the same filtertype, and here it is all tuned comb filters (but with some settings you can reach some quite similar sounds).
But it can give some ideas
And about the MamVF-11, here is the manual :
http://oldschoolsound.free.fr/manuels/v ... 0manual%22
SO, i'm not for bloating a single efx of features, but I like these plugins above, i like yours, and as i found some similar things in each, i wanted to share...
Vocoding seems quite complicated, as many vocoder vst are crap. But i guess that with the quality of your rezon8 and some time, nice things coudl come out, eheh.

You feed one signal for pitch, one signal for timbre (it can be called "synth/analysis" or "carrier/modulator"), the usual vocoding technique.
In fact, your plugin reminds me also a little bit ths ound of the free and old RZ vocoder,or the sound we can hear in "my dog eats beats", from the band Console.

But i guess we went out a bit out of topic...
