Liquid Mix PC Version

I've heard that the pc version of Liquid Mix is only coming out in December and that if I buy the mac version now then I can just download the free pc driver when it is available. Does anyone know if it will be the exact same hardware just with a pc driver instead?

why would the hardware change?

My own common sense tells me that the h/w will be the same and you'd simply get a new driver etc. But...it depends if the h/w has ROM s/w or RAM s/w. It is possible that it's all ROM (even though unlikely). Even then you might still be able to d/l a new ROM chip or similar (certainly you could do that with older h/w FX units etc.
My own sense of caution would tell me to wait and buy it after the PC version has been released...just in case. Wouldn't you be pissed off if you bought a Mac version that couldn't actually be used on a PC by any means?
Another reason to wait might be...December is a few months away. For all you know Focusrite might have released a newer 1.1 version or whatever by then...with more bells and whistles in it. They might discover bugs/ faults etc in the original. You might be able to d/l those extras, you might not. At least if you wait until the PC version is released...you know for sure you'll have the absolute latest version at that time.
Anyway...no point in buying one now. You're not going to be able to use it at present, if you're on a PC. You'll just be torturing yourself. I'd hate to have a brand new toy sitting there, that I couldn't use. I'd rather be forced to listen to hiphop all day.

Yes I agree with what you say. I was tempted by a good price that I possibly won't get in December but the rational thing is to wait. Besides something else that I prefer might come out instead by then. Like a UAD for laptops perhaps... Or is that wishful thinking???

good point but have you seen the cost of them? i could buy a pc with it's own pci slots for the same price as an expansion chassis.MHoughton wrote:its called an expansion chassis
