Get two monitors, open up KVR twice & use one eye for reading either screen - like the real addicts.
Warning - can have side effects though:

You do know that you've just posted an actual picture of Lunch Money. Him and his new widescreen monitor. He just can't see it all at once! But he sure does try!

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Quite the opposite. But what in my sig made you think that? :?
Well, I confess I have not seen the film, but from what I have heard it re-inforces negative stereotypes, and restates the 'deicide' charge that was the excuse for centuries of persecution of jews by christians.

Mel Gibson's recent comments would imply that was rather deliberate... so I wonder what your motives are for promoting that film.

can we take that discussion to HPC please ... if it carries on here ill have to start pruning ...

Agreed.

And regarding your previous point, I knew there would obviously be threads about this on the respective company forum(s) ... as with any host release. But by the same token, it is good to be able to discuss it here on the main KVR boards, where a different group of folks are likely to take an interest and join in... also as with any other major host release.

So please can we keep it On Topic? 8)

You've been out the loop haven't ya. The guy just implemented Rewire in...less than a week. EnergyXT and Podium still don't have that after...years and years. And Tracktion still has that drop note issue that it had for years.

I know Reaper will slow down eventually, but it's not there yet.

Anyway, about the Tracktion 3 video I think it's bad they only talked about the single feature I have absolutely no interest in, while there are truck load of others I would like to see or hear about. Any chance they can redo a video without the "paint by number" thingy?

Post

wow thats pretty sad video. this guy doesnt really know his stuff- the screen looks cool and looks like theres more to behold. he looked nervous. Damn. I have a sneaking suspicion there is a lot more features but the guy wasnt prepared.

So he added rewire. Yeah, that's great, and yes, I know about it. I still keep up on Reaper. And YES, it has slowed down. Energy XT doesn't have it, so what? Does it have to? It's still getting more and more users every single day, and Jorgen has said that he doesn't really care to put rewire in, and there hasn't been an uproar about it at all. I don't really know, or care, about Podium. My point is that Reaper HAS slowed down, and will slow down even more. Like I said, the updates "on a daily basis" were very rarely substantial in the first place. And now, they are already coming further apart. It's natural.

You may think it's bad because SO FAR, they haven't announced the features YOU WANT, but the features they did discuss are still largely requested features. And do you really think that there aren't alot more features? Remember, MACKIE didn't make the video. And Mackie themselves have not officially released any details yet. The rep on the video obviously only had a limited amount he could say.

Just trying to break all the unneeded assumptions that are being made today.

Your opinion, of course, with which I disagree completely and entirely.

Except you're the one making assumptions. I didn't say there aren't any more features, on the contrary I said I want to see them, whatever they may be. And yes, the paint by number thingy doesn't interest me at all; is that a crime? And I said I wished they chose other features to show instead, is that a crime also?

Post

The video was crap. I agree. But it also wasn't "exactly" made my Mackie, and was obviously restrictive.

My "assumptions" weren't actually what you say. You just mentioned that you were disappointed because features that you wanted were not displayed. My bad if I read you wrong. It's entirely possible, and I apolagize.

Sure, the rewire thing is my opinion. I never stated that it wasn't. But Jorgen has been up front about it, and the users really haven't complained too much.

However, on the FACT that Reaper has slowed down, it really has. And it will continue to do so. It HAS TO. It's not a bad thing, which I think users may think of it as a bad thing. It just means that it's getting somewhere where it doesn't have to release bug fixes every single day(which is what most of the updates were). Significant releases weren't released every day, although the userbase often acted like every day was an entire new feature set, when rarely it was. Now that Reaper has gotten to that point, it will slow. The maturity of a program allows it to do so.

Am I criticizing Reaper? Not at all. Although I was left with a bad taste in my mouth due to a couple "incidents", I hold no negative thoughts about the program. It's not for me, and the updates personally don't impress me(been there, done that). But it remains a great option, and I'm glad it's around.

Anyways, I do wish that Mackie would have made the video more "official". It was a website recording someone who appeared(to me) to not be ready to make a video.

Details will come soon enough. Then people can start making judgements. Some will like it, some won't. It WON'T please everyone, I promise you that. It's impossible to do.

Laz runs the demo booth at AES. Someone from Sonic State comes over and says, "Hey, give us a run-through that we're gonna put on our website," and he does what he can. You'd see similar things from any number of presenters. I remembers seeing a NAMM TonePort demo and thinking, "there's so much more to it!" but there's only so much you can get into in a short time and in a 'demo booth' situation.

Our company runs demo booths. We have to choose which features to highlight because each demo should run only about 5 minutes max. Laz was likely told, "focus on THIS feature and keep it short." That's how booth demos work. <shrug>

[leaving aside the issue of filming/recording quality...]

Whether the video is "crap" or "sad" surely depends mostly on whether or not it fulfils its stated intention of summing up the most significant improvements in T3...? It may have been off the cuff, it may have been scripted, and personally I don't care too much about that so long as it is accurate and honest. Here's an interesting quote from the company board:
rocketman5 wrote:Well, I was also at the AES show today and took a peek at T3. Overall, it looks similar to T2 with the exception of the top 2 tracks noted previously. Also, the new VST manager looks like it allows better categorization of plugins. The little info placard next to the laptop running T3 did note CPU enhancements but not much else besides what has already been mentioned.
In that case the video is surely good, because it shows T3 in an accurate light?
