12,500 is enough cash for me to
buy a 2nd hand HD rig with extra cards , buy a duende , a Liquid mix or two , several UAD's with all the nice plugins and a PC or 2nd hand G5 to run it all on with a copy of logic/cubase or PT.
Waves? No thanks.
'punters' may expect waves but ive never had anyone go 'o no , no waves' after hearing the soundtoys or eventide plugins. Waves are just really well known
Good in 1998 , lacking somewhat in 2006. Imho
PS current rig is a HD system with extra DSP cards a duende a LM and a UAD in a G5.

It would be silly if $7,500 or $12,500 was actualy $75.00 and $125.00, cause they might be loosing customers? Cause that would be more like it wouldn't it or am I wrong? Their women must be expensivebeej wrote:$7,500 native, $12,500 TDM.
Start saving folks. Don't forget to budget the extra 50 bucks for the dongle...

The X-Noise plugin was nice, just for this price it's totally outdated if I look at Voxengo and BIAS. And SSL4000? You only pay that much because of the licenses. DeBreath? Aw come on, learn how to record properly, Tune - tell your singer to learn actually "how to sing" and not to rap and howl and shit.K-Slash wrote:Hey man, the last Waves plugins are high-quality processors for sure, like Tune, DeBreath, Z-Noise, SSL 4000...Compyfox wrote:Uhm... excuse my sarcasm, but...
WAVES, LOL?!
Quantity over Quality I guess... I stick to Kjaerhus and Voxengo... no dongle, VST, and way more than I'll ever need.
And the upcoming V-Series and MaxxVolume are in the same way, it's just the price which is not good.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I better put my money into something that is WORTH and just as good even though people will say "No Waves? No Deal" in terms of engineering jobs. But I'm on a budget 99% of the time, this is why I learn how to actually "use" my tools, not using presets like every other so called "engineer" in the pop industry.
Don't go with the flow, develop your own sound/style!

I understand you.
I don't use these plugins, except the SSL 4000, but I have tested all of them. In my view there're pretty good.
But I agree that the old generation is outdated for sure.

The funny thing is, for 12,500$ or even the 7,500$ you can easily by top of the line hardware that does the same jobs much better and WILL KEEP their value intact for years to come.
Cheers!

but of course, it doesnt have the convenience and integration of a plugin (normally) although i would rather get the liquid channel any day over a waves bundle. And a liquid mix.

Waves, Digidesign, Pace...can all bite me. Don't want it. Don't
need it. I pity any engineer that feels they need to bend over
and take an i-kok where the sun don't shine simply because
their ignorant talentless clients feel they must have this
bit of kit or that to manufacture their next piece of pop
drivel. Records are still being recorded to 2" analog tape
with a 100% analog hardware path and there's a damn good
reason why.

I'm sure Radiohead paid out more than this trying to get that Coldplay sound. . Oh for the days of The Bends...Reverse Engineer wrote:That's a lot of money to get that coldplay sound.

I can get a Liquid Mix and a dead cheap (used?) Lexicon Reverb for this! And for the rest (7500USD - around 1200USD = 6300USD) I can get either 2 extra PC rigs, ton of ourboard hardware, a Yamaha Digital Mixer(!!!), ...bmanic wrote:The funny thing is, for 12,500$ or even the 7,500$ you can easily by top of the line hardware that does the same jobs much better and WILL KEEP their value intact for years to come.

HELL I could build a second (midi)studio for this money!
So much about Waves.
