anyone else got this problem? seems no matter what i try, some plugins just won't show up.

could you please, please try these out and see if they load correctly for you in sonar 6?

just a few examples:

- 4 front piano and e-piano

- ariesverb_0_2.dll

plz let me know ..

tried re-reading the vst folders with what ever settings, but the plugs won't even appear in the vst wrapper - um - i mean, layout/plug-in manager ;P

i've even created a new vst folder where i've re-installed some plugs, to no avail ..

i've rebooted etc etc etc ..

Post

well, does anybody else experience problems with plugins not showing up?

c'mon :P

IIRC, there was a similar thread at CW forums, I'll see if I can find it.

i found a thread there concerning "too many plugins" to put it simply, but the problem here is not the same - my problem persists even if i use a temp-vst dir with just a few plugisn. and also - in the cw thread the plugins show up in the plugin manager - but here they don't. is it this thread you ment?

could anyone with sonar 6 please just download at least one of those vst and confirm it works or does not work in their daw

I had a similar problem in Sonar 4. In that case it was something in the registry that went wrong. The only way I could solve the problem that time was to clear the registry entries for Sonar and re-install it. I checked my email, but could not find the email I got stating exactly where to find the entries that had to be deleted. You can find it somewhere on the cakewalk website.

.. and this isn't the only bug i've found so far ..

but could someone please try if ariesverb works on their sonar 6?

it's a good reverb, try it out, please ..

or should i make a list of every plug that doesn't work ;P

Hey, I don't know about Sonar 6, but I had I similar problem when I went to ver. 4. Sonar 3 worked fine, but all my plugins didn't show up in version 4.

My "workaround" is to use Energyxt as a "wrapper." I insert Energyxt in the effects bin and all my VST's show up within Energyxt, and they work normally. Hope that helps.

Post

yeah, i did use ext already, but that won't do .. sorry ..

nobody can confirm if these vst work for them in sonar 6?

Post

ok fine, i'll make a list ~>:--P

I can't confirm or deny as I haven't ordered Sonar6 yet.

Nor do I use 4Front piano or Ariesverb, so I can't help you there, even if it was a Sonar5 issue too.

FWIW, I like Sonar, but I find it somewhat annoying to rarely see a fix released for an old Sonar version once a new version is released, even if it was one they fixed in the new version. A tad bit Cubasish, but not near as bad... I guess it's supposed to make once-a-year upgrades more desirable, to keep people from "skipping one" (as I did between S2 and S4).

hmh, seems it's harder to make the list than i thougth .. i guess i have to re-install sonar 6 on some other computer to try it out ..

oh and btw sytrus seems to be one of those plugins that don't show up ..

Some VST's will crash Sonar too. For example, I can't get Smart Electronics' Galatix to run, even when using Chainer inside of Sonar 6, it still crashes.

Post

yeah, iirc i tried chainer, too, but that didn't help . ext did, though .. but i'd prefer not being forced to use ext.
