Hi,

Just wanted to see if I can get a bit of advice. As an owner of SS2 I was considering purchasing ST2.1XL. Would that be a redundant purchase?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think so. I have ST2.1XL and SS2 and haven't seen much, if any, overlap between the two. Both share some categories but you'll find different stuff in those categories. I just use ST2.1 as the player for all the material, including the SS2 stuff.

More sounds! If you're considering it, then go for it! The ST2XL library has a very different flavour to SS2, so you could certainly use both. For reference, the ST2XL library has more of a "produced" sound, compared to SS2's more "natural" or "raw" sound. Having both is like having a high-end keyboard (ST2XL) like a Triton or Fantom and combining it with a collection of high-quality dedicated sample libraries (SS2). Of course, it's even better than that because you can access both the ST2XL and SS2 libraries from the same plugin (ST2)! This is how I work, and it's so much faster and immediate to have everything all together in one place, rather than having a bunch of different windows with their own interface rules and styles.

I have to agree! SS2 and ST2 have very different flavours and I'm glad that I have both. SS2 offers much more for those into straight synthesis whereas ST2 is great for the 'workstation' bread and butter kind of sounds. Oh of course SS2 also has great workstation sounds, it's just that ST2 has alot more of them.
