Problems with ST2.1

Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to raise this -I have also e-mailed IK.
I'm running Cubase 4 and SX3 with ST2.1.2 5L01 (the version from in the box).
The problem I'm seeing is that sometimes notes are missing or cut short on various sounds. When this happens I need to reboot my PC to make ST2.1 work properly. The problem occurs most often with the standalone version. However, if I see the error, then shut down the standalone version and then pull up the VSTi, it occurs there too.
I also have ST1.1.4 installed on the PC (for older projects), and I have created two discreet roots for ST2.1 and ST1.1 to attempt to avoid any issues there. My ST2.1 folder contains; The ST2.1 DVDS content, SS1, and many other ST1 add ons from SR and others.

What I don't understand is the significance of shutting down the PC in this - surely if the application is restarted and the ST cache is deleted that should be enough?

I used ST1 for several years with no issues at all. ST2.1 provides so much more - if only it would work properly. :(
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Roger

I think I've found what the problem was:
I had left the /3Gb switch in the boot.ini file. Since removing that I have been unable to reproduce the fault.

I just got a question: What is the newest version of Sampletank 2.1?
You say that the version in the box is 2.1.2 5L01, but on the Sampletank download page it's the version 2.1.1 (Build 5K18).

Best regards

Interestingly the IK UK support person said that he hadn't heard of a version 2.1.2 5L01 and that his understanding was that 2.1.1 5K18 off the web site was the latest. All I know is thats what came in the ST2.1XL upgrade box. I am now running 2.1.1 5K18 to standardise with any support resource if I ever need it.

The problem I was having has now gone away after removing the /3Gb switch from my boot.ini file. My PC currently has 2Gb of RAM so the /3Gb was irrelevant anyway. However, I would be interested to know if the /3Gb switch has any effect on ST2.1 on a machine with say 4Gb of RAM.

OT - Now that ST2.1 finally works properly I am very pleased with the upgrade. I was unable to run more than one instance of ST1.1 - I just got garbled output. This limited the usefulness because I only had 4 stereo outputs. ST2.1 has enough outputs for most projects so that alone has justified the cost.

Regards,
Roger
