just because it says bar 1 doesnt mean your song has to start there.
start playing on bar 5 or something. set the thingie to bar 3 if you need two bars count-in, and press record
it's a feature, not a bug :P

say no to sequencer conformity!!

Yeah, just because metronome count-in is a feature in every other fuckin' sequencer in the known universe, doesn't mean that the Propellerheads should implement it in Reason.

For perspective for non-Reason users: there's also no note preview when you're mousing around in the piano roll. Metronome count-in is pretty far down on my list of FRs for the sequencer, and that's not because I don't want it. Also note that the only "sequencer feature" that's been added since 1.0 is the detachable window, and that's not really that relevant to functionality. That's 3 major updates with no changes. Clearly it's not because they can't, but because they don't want to.

Yeah, that no note-preview is just crippling. One of the things that keeps me from using Reason more. Can't believe there's no count-in either! I never knew that.

I've gotten so used to starting a song on bar 2 or 3 that it doesn't really bother me anymore, but it should be there. It would be nice to have an elaspsed time display too. Now I have a stopwatch accesory to Reason ;)

Maybe in the next version these things will be included. I know you are not the only one wanting these things and I would imagine many have asked.

yeah, it's funny how due to the fact that Cubase, at least SX 3 can't properly sync to Reason 3.0 for the first bar (on my computer, no need to flame me), i.e. the first few notes are usually lost when I try to ReWire the two together,

so that I always start my sequences a couple of bars in... I've gotten used to the way Cubase seems to stutter as it starts, and then settle...

So while I miss a count-in in Reason, I too have had to work around it and have been okay... but man, wouldn't it be nice if these companies could work this stuff out...
Antec P-case, Asus motherboard, AMD Phenom, 16gbRAM, 4 Hard drives, Windows 7 Ultimate, MOTU 828mkIII, Komplete 8, Maschine, Reason 6, Cubase 6, Blue Sky monitors(and a powerbook).
