Fatal Error with DS-404

I have loaded 40mb of samples into DS 404 but when I save up pops a blue screen with the message DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. All IRQ's seem to ok when checked. There is mention of a EWS88 and mine is EWX 24/96 and suggests to check hardware. Another part of the message counts dumping memory and asks to check bios for cacheing and shadowing (??!?). The computer then reboots and tells me that we recovered from a fatal error. I've tried this several times with the same results - Is my system powerful enough? At the time I was using Computermuzys and the DS404.
Athlon 750 tbird - 128 mb ram
EWX 24/96 & Sblive
Roland PC-300 (USB)

Just a thought; SBLive's are known not to play well with some other soundcards; you might want to retry with yours disabled, or even removed completely.

-128 is too less RAM for an audio PC; get at least 256
- are you sure you have the latest updated version of DS404?

In my case disconnecting all USB devices helped but it wasn't until I uninstalled Norton AV and reinstalled P5, that it was stable. I never got the crashes > error messages before installing P5 and Cakewalk tech support seem to think that Norton AV can corrupt installations of their software. If you are also using Norton AV, perhaps the same thing is happening to you. I also have no IRQ conflicts.

Thanks for your help but I had an idea.
The original samples were horn (soft med hard) from the CM disk. So i started loading the trombone ones little by little and saving and opening periodically. The horn samples were 33mb and the trombones presented no problem until I exceeded the 30mb mark or thereabouts. This tells me my computer is too slow.
So, do I increase the Ram or the processor speed?
Also what's the difference between a imsb file and a ims file?

Ims is the standard Muzys format, while an Imsb gets created automatically as a backup... I think...I never was able to really tell the difference between the two to be honest.

Definately sounds like a configuration/host issue to me, nothing at all to do with DS404. The likely problem is insufficent RAM, if you only have 128mb as other posters have mentioned you're not going to get far. DS404 needs a buffer over and above the samples you have loaded, especially during song saving. Considering how cheap RAM is I would recommend this as a first point of call, get the maximum your motherboard/OS will support
