All our ws-engine products are WS3-format compatible, so Ethnotronics can be used with the Wusikstation 3 too.
well, that's great!

Thanks, Julia! :)

What kind of bagpipe did you use, I hope not only the scottish Great Highland or similar?
Good bagpipe sounds are always interesting for me, especially Gaitas and other rare european types.
I'm mainly interested in wind instruments samples, but your sound list has some goodies.
Ethnotronics is still on my wishlist.
Thanks for your posting, Phil, and great that you like the instruments list.

Concerning the bagpipe I fear that you'll not find your dream region bagpipes. We know that there are some cool instruments especially from the south europe area, but we've recorded only scottish bagpipes. The sound is different, not so sweet like them from greece islands for example. But Ethnotronics is thought as a system with a huge basis content and we'll not stop too early to include more instruments later as expansion packages. No promise at this moment, but as you know that we're in the ethnic instruments sampling business since 1996 this is more than sure that we keep an eye on this instrument categories further on.

Julia - do you mind if I post this quote in the Manytone forum. This is a fantastic endorsement of the quality of their sampled instrument and I'm sure Paul would appreciate it.

Sure caleb, Paul deserves the kudos.

This is great news, I really didn't need TSW Pro but I wanted a great deal on Ethnotonics.

Thanks for staying the course through rough waters.

this is very strange. so does that mean, since RA offer so great ethnic instrument soudns that you will completely stop develping your product. If other companies make good stuff how can it stop you from doing something even better?

Post

No, it's only depends the mentioned Sitar and only for Ethnotronics. This doesn't mean that we'll never release another Sitar collection. As one of the leading ethnic instruments sample development companies with already 4 products in the market we're working on a long term audio production strategy. In case of the Sitar it doesn't make sense to release one more though as the Manytone guys already did a really good one considering the ws-engine format.

Hope this clears the picture for you.

Sincerly

Julia

here's an idea = BITR could always try to negotiate an exclusivity license for his sitar specifically for Ethnotronics. So then only 2 places to find it - ManyTone or in Ethnotronics! There's ManyWays (haha get it! )...to do it..maybe even buying the rights off him, but knowing Paul here on KVR and how he approaches his business, I'm sure he'll be all ears to any ideas.

As well remember...Paul's (badass) sitar is like no other sitar = it is actually a HANDMADE Sitar, so....very unique indeed!

[edit] I don't have to worry about this though as I already got his sitar...and everything else he offers. ;)

...and if it happens, BITR, please don't forget my consulting fee for the idea. My invoices are normally payable within 30 days, but I'll make an exception and give you 45 days. Better yet...I'll be more than happy to negotiate a small 1% fee of total sales of Ethnotronics.

This customer is still hanging in. Thanks for the explanation. Very much looking forward to its release.

Guys, you make me really smile!

Hello again, yes it's me: kpr. I wasn't present in our own company forum for a while, but this is a good reason to jump in.

First of all it's definitely great that you all are still hanging into Ethnotronics. Well, Julia already reported the whole story behind the scenes and I must say that she is doing a superb job here. You should know that she is managing everything on the bitr sales desk as well as answering all mails except a very few where someone needs my personal response. During the last months I was deeply involved in many projects and actually I'm still, but fortunately this will change by January.

Hired by Steinberg I helped to develop the new HALion One content, which is part of the new Cubase 4, and this was not bad for bitr too because Ethnotronics will be released in a HALion player version too. So I learned a lot when working with this engine and this will make this Ethnotronics version even better. Another job was supporting Creamware's new ASB synthesizers, particulary the Minimax ASB and the Pro-12 ASB. So if you're playing around with a Minimax ASB at your local music store you'll play my Presets. Not enough doing hardware jobs I was, and still doing, supporting the Alesis Fusion. You can find my Presets inside the factory banks as well as additional banks available for free and as commercial products. The Fusion is really worth to check out, I'm even using this as my personal masterkeyboard now, in this case it's an 8HD model.

A really big deal is my work for the new prog band MILO, where I'm working as co-executive producer, musical director and of course as keyboarder. Currently we're in the recording studio for the drum sessions and the lead vocal recordings, everything else is already done in my own project studio and we used Cubase for the entire pre-production and moved this data then to Protools in the recording studio.

When all this is finished I'll have more time for bitr and I know that this is important. We have still many samples in our existing archive to format to the ws-engine, so it's time to make it.

Another news is that we decided to share our "Ethnic Instruments Guide" and "Vintage Keyboards Guide" for free of charge now, and we'll leave the previously included samples simply out, so the free of charge offer means the PDF eBooks only. Currently they're available in german language, perhaps someone will translate it to english or I'll use the Altavista babelfish for the main chunk and do the fine tuning manually. Watch the website for details.

Cheers

Klaus

Translation from marketing speak: don't expect Ethnotronics anytime soon, kpr is too busy doing other things.

Now why couldn't they have said this 10 months ago?

Just as many predicted, no Ethnotronics. Here's another prediction: come January there will be another set of excuses from BiTR, and so on, and so on, and so on...
