I haven't written anything in almost a year. I thought this contest would be a good idea to force my hand a bit so I started something but...I won't finish this one either as i just got called for work today, after almost 2 months at home, on location for 4 months leaving Monday and I got to have my stuff packed and ready.
Anyway, it would have been called Still Life
Written entirely in Guitar Pro, the 440 kb pdf is here if you want to see where I was going with this. The idea was to arrange it further and then record live instrument mixed with vsti but alas, no time now. So I just exported the midi from GP and imported as is in eXT for mixdown using Manystation and DR008.

Boy, I'm glad I entered this month! With so few entries, I'm sure to place in the top 400!
[/snark]
Two minutes of space-age psychadelia... 1.8 MB.
Too Much Acid in the Inertial Dampers
One afternoon's work in GarageBand, and it shows! The drum track was a canned MIDI loop, everything else is me.
The extremely complex chord progression is available upon request.

Couldn't decide on what to do this month but I have to stop wasting time on things that I end up not wanting to enter so here goes before I get tired of this one

Thanks to all who offered hosting, and particularly Knockman for patience, as I have been away for a few days!
I'm sorry about this sentimental story but…..
During the past couple of months I have been gaining an interest in Northumbrian folk music and I set out to write a tune within this particular style. I started off by putting together a 6/8 chord structure with the aim of creating a jig-type dance tune.
The next day the story started……. My sister, who has been suffering from M.S. for the past five years had been rushed in to hospital with complications, and the situation was so grim that the family were summoned! As we all sat by her bedside waiting for the inevitable, those chords were running through my mind and I found the tune developing in my head.
The crisis passed and the next morning I laid down the bulk of the track in a highly sentimental mood. It had changed, subtly from 6/8 to 3/4 time, and the 'real' situation reverted to the worst scenario with her sad demise, from pneumonia, at the tender age of 60!
I now see this as a 'last waltz' which I dedicate to my sister………… who has passed over without hearing her tune.
A Tune for June.

Fender acoustic guitar,
Generation "D" penny whistle,
Westfield Pbass,
Evolution MK261 keyboard controller,
Roland MT32 module,
Synth1,
Behringer mikes and UB1002 mixer,
all through Cubase.

Hi everybody! This is my first contest entry, so please don't nail me too hard (but don't spare me either!
). I'm not an engineer, but I think this is the best way to learn something.
Well, this tune is both heavy and gentle. The guitars are prettty hot, but I wanted to keep them as powerful as possible.

Mellotronaut Driving With Mom
Finally i'm ready with my track. It describes the experiences with my mom on the road somewhere in the Provence between Aix and Cannes. We had to stop several times, because I felt quite bad.....well, listen to it and you may understand.
, but there were beautiful landscapes.......

Ochre
It's a simple three tracks of audio. Used NyquistEQ, GVST GComp, RubyTube, and Glaceverb. The instrument is a Godin Multiac Grand Concert through a VG88. No drums because I'm terrible at programming drums

Here's my entry for this month:
Out of Leftfield
I used Anna - a softsynth from the Developer's Challenge - as the main melodic instrument (backed by some ChineeErhu). Anna provided a challenge in that it was rendering a minor 9th higher than the pitch it played back in Live. But I loved the sound, so I sampled the patch direct from Anna in DirectWave (which took care of the pitch stability problem) and used DirectWave on the track.
Aside from that, I drew from a library I created earlier this year of leftfield percussion loops and synth samples. They've never been combined before, so the track is all new.
Most of the loops were created by using percussion samples in the FLStudio step sequencer plus Glitch. A few were created using Reaktor's Newscool ensemble plus Glitch. For the synth samples, I used Cygnus, STS-21, and Reaktor's Carbon2 ensemble. No Glitch. Oh, and for those of you who know your Acid libraries, there's one loop I didn't make from scratch myself - the main bass percussive thud. But I did modify it.
I threw the mix into Live, and this is what I came up with. No audio files were harmed in the making of this track... and there's no vox anywhere.
