Hey, to be fair, those hip hop producers sampled those hits too! Admittedly they tweaked them quite a bit, but most of them started out life on vinyl.

Not that this fact makes me want to buy what this guy is selling anymore. They're a modern day crate diggers library. Great if you're in the market for it, but probably not on KVR given thats its copyright south central

Oh, I know what you mean Jeff, but my point is that the guys who made the records in the first place sampled them illegally. So Im not really sure this guy is doing such an 'immoral' thing here. I mean, its is immoral to steal from a thief?

Im not condoning it. Just playing devils advocate (as I seem to have a way of doing these days, lol!).

----Well, like I said, if someone is too lazy or dumb to steal their own unusable (in the real world) samples, then go for it. Ya know, back in the day, like late 70's or early 80's, or whenever sampling first really got going, I'm sure grabbing bits of albums was all they had, and the laws against it weren't really on the radar yet so to speak. But, anyone sampling other people's material after 1985 or so, is just sad and stupid legally speaking. It's not like there's any lack of good samples out there to buy that are royalty free.
----If I was never planning to ever release anything, or try and get material licensed etc., then I'd probably do all kinds of mashups, and sample anything I wanted left and right. However, I'd sure as hell never pay for any of it, and 110% for sure not to some 8th generation sample thief.

If I stole something from you, it would not be in your possesion. Therefore, if someone steals it from me - he does not steal from the rightful owner.
If I infringe your copyright by sampling your work without permission and someone samples my work without permission - he infringes YOUR copyright still. You have not lost your copyright in the least, just because it was infringed.

Once again, equating stealing and copyright infrigement proves to be a faulty metaphor.

I dont know mate, you're probably right.

I just tend to go by the motto 'sample and ye be sampled'. I know this probably isnt going to stand up in court, but its pretty much how it works from my experience. I mean, I KNOW all the top engineers who mix hip hop records replace and layer hits all the time with those sample from modern records. Its just how its done.

But you're right. There is no justification for stealing. I just wanted to try to put it in context - the guy is stealing already stolen goods, not original records (unless you count the unheard of 70's vinyls that they originated on).

Im absolutely with you on that one mate! I would never in a month of Sundays pay for ripped samples. Id just sample them myself and be done with it, lol.

And I do often do this. I sample drums from EVERYWHERE. Usually they go to making up temp tracks which I replace later. Imo its very useful to have a stash of sampled hits from modern records.
