Is there a way to turn off fl studio automation?
There are so many situations where you move controls during recording, but you don't want the program to record this move.

Well, you can delete the automation clip :)

I don't think I understand what you're saying. To create an automation clip in the first place, you have to right click on the control and select "create automation clip". How would you be moving it during a recording session...

Post

Well, for example, I might be recording a keyboard track and at the same time adjusting the level of some other instruments, on the mixer. I don't want this adjustments to be recorded as automation, or else I'll have a whole lot to delete afterwards...
But I just can't find a way to "turn off" the thing, so that no automation would be recorded along with the keyboard track.
See what I mean?

no - by deault FL puts knob tweaks in a patterns event editor - and yes it can be annoying if you dont want knob tweaks recorded to have tons of events stored in pattersn - i just use the current project menu in the browser to find the eventsi dont want.

if there is a way to disable knob tweak recording id love to know :D

Post

That's the thing - I spend lots of time deleting knob tweaks in the browser that I didn't want to be recorded in the first place. There should be a way out of this.

sory i was saying 'no' to Elakhna - i agree with u 100% neilis ;)

It looks like the only automation that you can disable is the one in Link To Controller and thats when you are using a plugin! That kinda sucks! FR away we go!

Yeah. Speaking of "link to controller", I miss the option of version 5, I think, where you could link it all at once. Didn't work perfect, but I thought was helpfull.

Can't you just not tweak while you are recording mode?

Post

thanks for your help ;)

if you stop to think about it there are times when u will want to tweak while recording....

Post

It bugs me when I'm recording audio that I can't tweak anything without it being recorded as automation - I like to play with FX whilst etc.

It'd be nice to have a option to record audio, midi or automation (or any combination thereof).

Post

Well i'm confused too.

Are you trying to use FL as a live instrument? If so, you might want to check out ableton live, because FL is horrible for anything like that.

That's the only reason i could see why you would want to tweak knobs but record only the midi notes...but FL's probably not the best choice for doing stuff like that, since it wasn't meant to be a live based program. (even though it has half-assed "live mode" functions, theyre pretty worthless if I say so myself)

No. And i dont just want to record midi.

say im recording some audio and as im recording it i want to tweak a knob of one of the effects? without it being recorded as automation?

u seem to have just wanted an opportunity to bash FL's live mode etc...without really thinking about what were saying... :P
