my friend has a mac and hes got this neat demo of a program that detects your pitch to see if youre on key, you can kind of teach your vocals so they can be on... any vsti (and preferrably au for my friend) that we can teach ourselves how to sing the hell on key

gsnap? i dunno. like maybe gvst can make a combo of gtune and gsnap without the snap part of it?

oh... I thought you just discovered the ultimate method for singing in tune, in your other thread?

How about Antaress Autotune? AKAI Pitchright?

There are probably also some instant 'vocal tutor' software programs available on the internet, although not as a VST. But for learning to sing that shouldn't matter, and as a VST you probably want to do the pitch correction as well.

hehe no way. my friend just found this- my technique, kind of common sense - can help as well, but itd be nice to see it too!
im gonna round up a cheap mic on my laptop and see if i can do this with gsnap

In addition to specific vocal tools, of course any spectrum analyser will do... just feed it the synth (possibly sine) tone and the vox. And there's also a lot of tuner software... I can even use my UX2 to see the pitch I'm singing (although it's broken, it always shows the wrong pitch :( )

dude if you have a mac try out that program its freaking AMAZING within about 30 mins we can sing at least 3x better

The only solution for good vocals is learning to sing and practice practice practice. Like I said before, there is some software available, but mostly as part of singing courses. e.g. google "sing lesson software download" etc :D... musesmuse.com used to have some links for singing lessons as well...

download c-tuner, it's a free pitch detection plugin.

Melodyn i think it does the same

right i mentioned free ;)
C-tuner was far too erratic... Gsnap doesn't have lines that are "ON the note", but in between notes, so I can't train myself accurately that way, I did email graham but no response as of yet... most of the tuners are good for guitars but not vocals..
