Hi,

I've written a free program for Cubase users. With it you can :-

# Search for Projects that use a particular Plugin
# List Plugins in a particular Project
# List unused Plugins
# List used Plugins
# List all installed Plugins
# List uninstalled Plugins (that are used in a Cubase Project)

(Plugin is an effect or instrument. VST or DirectX)

It's particularly usefull for trimming out some of your thousands of free VST plugins that you never use.

Unfortunatly i've only been able to test it on Windows XP Pro SP1 using Cubase SX3 but I wouldn't be surprised if it worked on other versions of SX including the cut down versions - LE, SE and SL.

I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know if it does work on the other versions.

Er, hi, I have an install problem.

(I'm using XP home, SP1)

I get this message on install ..

ERROR 2908. Could not register component.
{AD83B910-67C4-43EA-BE0B-4F6BE51D5D1B}

Any ideas, and/or, can we bypass the installer and have the raw DLL file?

Cupul is a stand alone program, so I can't send you a dll, it needs an exe to run.

I've done a quick search on the internet and it seems to be a problem with a corrupt Microsoft .Net Framework.

Uninstalling & re-installing .NET framework:

• Click "Start"
• Go to "Control Panel"
• Choose "Add/Remove Programs"
• Remove all installed versions of Microsoft .NET Framework
• Remove any Microsoft .NET Framework hotfixes that are installed.
• Open your web browser and go to http://www.windowsupdate.com/
• Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. It usually requires you to reboot your computer.
• Open your web browser and go to http://www.windowsupdate.com/ again.
• Install all Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 hotfixes available.
• NOTE: Do not install any .NET Framework 2.0 betas unless you really have to.

Then, try installing Cupul again.

There's also another possible solution on there involving cleaning out your temporary files but from what i've seen on other sites I suspect it's a .NET problem.

I'm off to bed now but i'll check back tomorrow am to see how it went.

Thanks. This issue aint related to your plug at all as I have come across this 2908 error before, and have also had the suggestion of .net framework being the problem.

Been trying to find out if/why I actually need the .net framwork app. I mean, my music pc is not connected to the net, and I have been unable to find out why I should keep it on?

Most Sony/Sound Forge software requires it, if you have any installed.

Yes, i've no idea what the .net framework is for but i don't think it has anything to do with the internet. I do know that when I installed Installshield, it installed the latest version of .Net.

Also, from the previous link I gave you, they included a quick fix which is just to :-

- Go to C:\Windows\System32\
- Find a file named "mscoree.dll"
- If this file exists (it may not), then rename this file to "mscoree.bak"

Then install Cupul

However, as another user has pointed out, you may have other software installed that relies on .Net

.NET is Microsoft's "answer" to Java. It was supposed to be platform independend, but since it is OS dependend it's totally beyond me why anyone uses it.

Hi, I have tried changing the file name, no luck. As my music pc is not connected to the net then reinstalling .net framework seems also out of the question. Finally I have been advised that updating to SP2 may solve the problem. Well, I'm still not 100% confident that SP2 can handle all my music apps, so, all in all , looks like I will have to bypass this useful looking app.

Want to know all about your Cubase plugin usage?
