Are you a bad-mannered musician ?

never written a "thanks" mail to a dev in my live; not because I don't care but because I am afraid to get on someone's nerves, like somebody else here already wrote.
besides, if there's already a hail-and-praise thread at kvr, additional email seems overkill

Like me
That is where all of my stuff comes from (I would build it anyway), that coupled with guys like bram (thanks bram) and the many other early audio freeware developers is why I give it freely now.
I would like to think in my heart that they gave that early stuff to help those less fortunate not only for the return, Not to say that every person who creates thing they consider new\cool should just give it without an expected return! We all would like to see a return for our efforts in our own ways. Be it a thanks or monitary (money in this crazy world sure does help) but to leave more then just a buried box six feet under,in this world sure would be nice
While we are thanking
Never put it together that you were the guy who made them, even when I seen your name in the comp

Cheers man! Actually, thanks to the current KVR Developer Challenge I have more or less rediscovered the fun in freeware. All the positive and sincere feedback I have received for Lunchbox Battles has inpired me take this fun little project a step further and develop it into a more fully featured but still freeware app.FrettedSynth wrote:that coupled with guys like bram (thanks bram) and the many other early audio freeware developers is why I give it freely now.

You know the best thing about Lunchbox Battles is that is just silly fun, but turns out to be pretty useful. You deserve all the positive feedback for it.brambos wrote:Cheers man! Hehe, won't sent it to the trash
Thanks for the comment

I used some in Drive5, They sound great.

Hi frettedsynth,
Hehe, didn't know you used my modules in Drive5,..didn't check the VSTfolder with the modules
Great to see people like them
I've been very pleased with the sound of the DSP modules as well
For example combining RH_Booster and RH_Foldback2 will give you a similair sound as the old cubase plugin 'fuzzbox'.
Cheers !
Cya,
Rob.

I am the guiltiest in some ways.
I don't write thanks notes, but I do tirelessly promote the freeware I love in a sincere and girlish way.
And list the freeware VSTs I use in songs, and make demos with them, and make songs just to show off VSTs
Mostly because I literally couldn't possibly take the time to send out 2000 emails, find the emails on the devs' sites, figure out which dev made what plug and then google their homesite (harder than you think with some!), etc. I'd need an army. I hope they'll settle for tireless promotion, instant linkings when others need help, or advice, &c.

I don't make plugins, but I've been making music for about 40 years. I put a lot of time in it and it's free...
If people say thank you or not, won't change my attitude ! I do it in the first place for myself and I enjoy it of course a lot !
Thanks to all of you I can do this very cheap and with great quality gear, because I try to use only free plugs.
With my terrible long experience in hardware I can and may say that the vsti and vst you all make, mean as much to me as the invention of the tanga !!!
Now shut up and make some more plugs to amaze us, so we can amaze with our music, to put the crown on your work !
What I want to say is that this actual creative musical outburst on internet was only possible because of the freeware plugs.
THANK YOU ALL !!!
Cheers,
Max... .. .

Good morning Max,
you came up with a good point: many of the musicians here share their music or a part of it for free.....should we open a new thread now?
I think both the musicians and the devs get a lot of feedback and attention here at kaviars. So don't

I leave the toilet seat up, so yes, that does indeed make me a bad musician.

I don't understand some posts.
When you use freely the "creation" of someone, nobody obligate you to say : "thank's". Nobody.
We are what we are.
Bad-mannered or friendly people. But we can learn gratefulness if we aren't "natively" friendly people.
It's not only a question of "savoir-vivre", but more a question of heart, humanism.
When I read some posts, I repeat that I ask to me how are these people in quotidian life.
You can deny your carelessness, it's a type of egotism.
Sorry, it's egotism.
Dev' don't like praise only for praise, but because they are humans. Do you know the word "encouragement" ?
Dev's are right to give their free (or low price) plugs.
But some users are not right to think it's due.
Not complicated.
Nothing is due.
You can find 1000.000 nice causes to explain why you don't need to write to a dev, are you sure that these reasons are good ?
I think the life is not only a jungle filled of people living only for themselves. Sometimes yes. Sometimes no.

Now, when I've read some post here or at the forum "Instruments", I understand devs who sell their plugs. Or stop.
OK, you can howl, now.
And if my words are die-hard, sorry, my english is bad and my dictionary approximate.

Daniel had a good point, i think..
Im admitting to be guilty most of the times tho, for feedback and email to devs...
the only thing i can say in my apology is that i made tons of people dload and use some of the freeware thingies i use, and some of them even managed to buy some appz from the same devs..its not that much, i know, but i hope that will help somehow some devs to pay some small cost..
i repeat tho, u got a point about that,Daniel: I'll try to get back more often to devs with advices on bugs or other feedback from now on..(even since till now i had such a obsolete OS and sequencer to deal with it was pointless to report eventual bugs)
Peace out

What's the point? You're only going to get it out again later. Might as well let it hang out to dry au naturelle.herodotus wrote:I quite agree with you about people's ingratitude.
But what do you expect? These are musicians we are talking about, after all.
They can barely zip their flies after urinating, much less engage in polite conversation.
