mgTriggerGate and wav gating?

I have used it plenty before, routing my various VSTi synths to get that Vanguard-ish gate effect. Just tried using it on a vocal wav file, and nothing is happening. Everything in FLStudio. Any suggestions?

Your host needs to be playing before it works!

... just figured out another thing. When "auto trigger" selected, your host doesn't have to play, just trigger a midi note and it works!!!
