Sebastian, my 12 year old son, hasn't really showed that much interest in playing guitar. He generally hushes me (he's autistic, and quite sensitive to noises...), and mostly likes electronic music. But apparently that's about to change. More and more DVDs and games use rock bands, and he's played a few guitar based songs for me lately. The big breakthrough now is of course GUITAR HERO, the PS2 game. He loves it, and now he wants to play guitar for real.
When I came home with a red (red's his favourite colour) SG copy he wanted to strap it on immediately. So I fired up Tracktion, tickled my automatic drummer and plucked down my P-bass.
The result may not be the best song in the world, but Sebastian improvised the whole thing (I showed him an E major chord, but he wanted to make up chords) while I rolled along behind him, and it's my opinion that it's far from the worst song that's ever been entered in this contest. Hell, it's not even the worst guitar playing...
We played on for about five minutes, this is a two minute excerpt.
The jazzy synth stabs halfway into it was Oskar, to huge protests from his big brother.
So have fun listening to my oldest son's debut as a guitar hero - with pride and joy I give you:
Fire Rock
