Google still turns up nothing in the way of an online review article for Cubase 4. I'd like to hear what a professional reviewer has to say about C4 since the alternative which is forum talk are somewhat useless except for hearing what the vocal minority of squeaky wheels are boo-hoo'ing about in the way of some little missing feature or complaint they have that is the end of the world for them, which obviously misses the bigger picture of an overall appraisal of C4.

I haven't come across any decent reviews as yet. TBH, the proper reviews will most likely come out with some of the mags, such a Sound on Sound. And those tend to be a month or two after the release.

As you say...most forums etc contain mostly just snarky crap and little real detail. Although there has been the odd helpful thread here at KvR where I found out a few new things about C4 without too much of the usual trolling.

I think it was BDuffy (?) who posted a link for the Steinberg Canada website, which seemed to have far more detail than the European Steinberg sites and any of my local sites (Australasia).

But independent reviews...nothing I'm aware of yet.

Considering the NFRs just went out within the last couple of weeks, you got to give it a LITTLE more time.

Obviously missing features are important to some people, and recognizing that Steinberg created an inter-release incompatibility is significant for people considering the upgrade.

I'm sure there are "more meaningful" changes, they have to convince you somehow to shell out for the upgrade...

I've seen a couple of "First Look at Cubase 4" articles (most notably in this month's Computer Music mag, but that hardly counts as a review.

Well no doubt there are lots of people that want a review to decide about UPGRADING, however I'm not really interested in hearing "what new compelling features over SX3 do or don't justify an upgrade". I'm more just interested in reading a review of how it stands on its own for example against the other DAW's; hopefully we'll eventually see a shootout of all the latest versions of the major DAWs since several have come out recently (Live 6, Sonar 6, Cubase 4, and supposedly before year's end Logic Pro 7.5 or 8.0) - point being there are many MORE people than just SX3 upgrade candidates, that currently use other software but would love to consider switching to C4 based on how it stands on its own.

MTM have reviewed Cubase4 but said nothing about direct X support being dropped. I suspect Sound on Sound will have a more detailed review. They take on Sonar6 and Cubase4 in their next issue in 4 weeks time.

Anyone seen an online CUBASE 4 REVIEW?
