i reorganized my files etc
but now

my old project files
bc it cant find
the new locations of vsts
i mean if i start a new project no problem
but it there already was a vst and stuff....
it says it cant find the patch and my only option is to have it search my hard drives........but i have 1 terabyte so it locks up!
what can i do?
i do have sx4 coming.............

Are you experiencing this with a VST sampler like HALion or Kontakt? What's the VST?

Maybe you can change the letter of your partition to match the old one and make sure the path to the files that the VST needs is the same as the old one. The error dialog should point you in the right direction.

Is that with any VST effect or instrument? That is strange. Did you completely uninstall your VSTs before installing again? Like fizbin said; there is usually only a problem when a sampler or synth is looking for samples in the wrong location.

In Cubase, check DEVICES/PLUG-IN INFORMATION and make sure the default VSTplugin directory is the right one. If not, point it to your correct folder. If it is the right folder, press the re-scan button.

Jonathan, give up the idea of just 1 super-partition. The VSTs cannot handle that. Go back to a sensible size: 1 partition for the programmes, 1 partition for the vst-files. And if you like one more for your own cubase-files. I went a few times just thru the same problems but in my case the VSTs always searched and found their files at first loading after a new set-up. Hope this helps.

The VST's can't handle that? Huh? Why?

Unfortunately, Cubase uses hard coded paths in the projecct save files and doens't have enough intelligence to simply check to see what VST's you have reigstered and make a new association if the VST phyiscal location has been moved. Maybe you can manualyl edit it with a hex editor with your file, but lesson is, dont' move your stuff around. Wish they fix this. Need to see if that's fixed in version 4 or not.
