I read this on the Propellerhead Users forum:

Is it true that C4 is "full of bugs, bugs, bugs" ...? A couple of my colleagues are looking at upgrading, and I would like to warn them if necessary....?

I'm sure some reliable KVR Cubase user will have this by now, so please advise. Thanks

There's some good info on the cubase.net forums. From what I've heard, it was one of the most stable bug free releases of Cubase until now, albeit of course with some issues. But I haven't received my copy yet. Anyway, lots of info on the Cubase forums: http://forum.cubase.net/phpbb2/.

C4 is at least as stable as SX3 over here (i.e: very stable)...great stuff.

I have not received my copy yet.
So from personal experience i can't say anything yet but the word is quite similar to SX3, very stable.

Yup. Although I am a happy Sonar 5P user, based on what I'm reading at the Cakewalk forums, I'm going to wait another iteration or two of patches and how they settle before I spring for 6P.

The way I read it, it's looking right now like Sonar 6 is one of the buggier releases.

I have to admit, when I clicked that link I was expecting the usual run-of-the-mill trollish wankfest. However, I agree with pretty much all the criticisms that are listed there. Shame really, because I work mostly in MIDI and for all I know Cubase would be the better option, but no demo, no point... I don't know any highstreet places that demo Cubase any more.

Yes, there are bugs, but overall its pretty good for an initial release. I've not encountered any "showstoppers"

There are many things to commend C4, but one area where I find it's dropping the ball is in usability. The specifics are perhaps of limited general interest, but if you pop over to cubase.net and take a look you'll see a few threads worth looking at...

I've had some bothersome issues with C4 on the Mac...enough that I am considering rolling back to SX3 for a while.

I have had a number of crashes while using the Score editor, and there are some irritating bugs in the UI (like the fact that it seems to want to select track 1 every time I add a new track).

More than that, I have not been able to get it to rewire properly with Live 6. This may be an issue with Live, I don't know yet.

Also, it won't recognize my aggregate device (my MOTU combined with my Kyma Capybara).

In addition, though the new Instrument Tracks are a good idea, opening an instance of one of the built-in synths with an Instrument Track results in a stuck note upon opening said instrument...which then has to be closed and re-opened in the track...sorta defeating the convenience of the Instrument Tracks.

Oh, and I am constantly having to open the VST Connections window and reassign my I/O...not that they aren't unassigned...but for some reason, though C4 shows a given input as available, I have to reassign it to that input to get any sound.

I dunno. I have been very happy with SX3. Cubase 4 has been kinda disappointing, thanks to the amount of niggling little issues. I hope they get it all worked out. There are some nice things about this version.

why do they even release this shit when it's in that state?

same goes for Sonar, etc.

Well, spaceman tell us what wonder DW are you using there has no bugs at all on any given system spec... I mean less significant than the ones we know Cubase or Sonar have.
