hi all
i use a lot of eqs in my mixdowns and for various tracks i dont need a heavvy cpu beast

so im looking forward to buy a new nice musical bt not intrusive one (possibly linear phase ?)

lets say... the best quality at the lowest cpu..

any suggestions ?

nyquist EQ, Electri-Q (posihfopit edition) and a new contender IIEQ.

and forget linearphase. that's a buzzword for t'kids.

Eliosound AIR EQ

I just tried 6 running on Windows 98 on a
400 MHz Computer.

Not one glitch

cool ! looking into nyquist, electri-q and air eq

IIEQ has a gui i usualy dont feel comfortable with (lots of knobs)

For best quality at lowest CPU (IMO)

Sonalksis SV-517 and Eliosound AirEQ are both great and very low on CPU.

too bad. It uses about 1/4th of the CPU compared to Air EQ, and still sounds good.

I don't know about "1/4 of the CPU"...half, maybe; they're both so light (and creamy)!

have you tried to enable all bands etc,
and then run audio through it?

suddenly it doesn't seem to be as light as people believe.

(rather average CPU consumption.)

but still very nice sounding.

yeah dude i tried iieq he other day i admit was kinda amazed it was total freeware. then i tried the push tec and that did me in. push tec is a realy good eq. it made my synths shine. eletriq is also tops in my book. an eq when designed well, will acomplish the sasme task a commercial eq will as far as quality. i doubt if i made a tune with air eq or plpar and compared it the heavy hitter free eqs i realy doubt it would make much of a diffrence with the end result. of course me trying to convice those that it didnt would also create quite an end result

Best CPU to sound ratio has Sonic flavours DQ 7 IMO.
Not cheap, but superb.

The A0 Digital Eq is outstanding, has an absurdly low CPU hit, and is free!

It is my default channel strip eq for mixdown.

best low cpu eq ?
