what is this - sample

hey guys,
can anybody tell me what (hardware) synth produces this choir-like sound? (it's layered, i know. but i need only the "aaah" choir)

This sample is from 1986. I think this is a PPG-kinda sound.
Maybe a Waldorf can produce the same? I have a Waldorf XTII.

as i remember, Alphaville used this sound too.

A sampler?

Something about that specific choir sound, seems different than the standard synth choir. It sounds to me like a single choir sample mapped across a keyboard.
