I'm using the latest beta from fxpansion. The graphics for the vst don't appear inside the Cubase arrangement window, they appear on the mac desktop, not connected to the actual vst running in Cubase. Mac Pro, OS X 10.4.8 - Thanks

I'm a registered user of FLSXXL, never made a tune with it but the bundled software is the best bargain there is... no urine sample request but not transferable still.
A damn pitty DirectWave is not, yet i hope, as snappy in Cubase as it is on FL...damn great doe.

I think that Cubase lounge is free for all, the only place restricted to registered users are the technical fora... as in FL Forum.

I don't have Cubase 4, though judging by growing number of complaints on official Steinberg forum it looks like users are complaining about missing features, rather than bugs

1)Mackie HUI is missing
2)DX development abruptly stopped, without prior notification
3)Some VST don't work, though they worked flawlessly in previous versions
4)Program Changes -- missing !
5)64bit version....
6)VST3 --- half backed !
7)side-chain, I think it one of the biggest requests from SX2 !

I dont know how other users are feeling about cubase, but I think, there no significant since V1. Comparing to other host....MIDI work flow/functionality/editing has not changed since Cubase 5VST! Same dull looking pencil in piano roll/drum editor. In contrast, Samplitude got fresh start with VST world in version 8 !!! And look how much shit they packed for version 9 !

Could you give some more info about that, please?
How is Samp drum map(customization, routing)? what MIDI fx it has(arpegiators, step sequencer,chorder, transformer, quantizer, etc.)? does Samp support MFX and eventually some MIDI functions any other sequencer hasn't yet?

1) no it isnt - mackie are choosing not support the c4 in cubase - but that is them
2)true
3)hmm i know of two - and there is a simple workaround to get the choir builder to work
4)program changes work fine - there is no longer a seperate automation channel for them - so emm who cares
5)cubase 4 works in 64 bit - not native 64 bit but once again who cares - its a few months after vista once everything ahs 64 bit drivers that this makes any odds -0 and cubase 4 is getting a full 64 bit update at that time
6)vst 3 are fine - half baked - in what way ?- a bunch of excellent (yes some of them are really good) plug-ins that are not liscenced from anyone - so these ones will be updated
7) side chain has been possible since sx 2 - and once a ain a quicker method of doing this is planned for that 64 bit upgrade

so emmm - there is no case to answer here - one dead standard dropped and one unsusable vst (a cakewalk one)

sure the further upgrades (which im guessing will come out at the same time as nuendo 4) will make it complete

The chorder functions in three modes, but basicaly it transform a note on a chord or interval.
it can be assigned to a set of notes to build a progression or in it most basic function whenever a note is played the same chord or interval is played but transposed to the relative pitch of the original note, this and arpegiator are really great for non keyboard players musicians.

My wife is a classical pianist, you had to see her face when i trigg the arpegiator.
One time she said: "One's is working an entire life to get an arpegio rigth and now a machine does it instantly"

Generally speaking, how does Cubase 4 run on a Mac compared to a PC?

I'm considering buying a MacBook (not a Pro) to get some work done at home instead of spending hours of overtime in the studio, but I'm a PC guy who's just looking for some variation/new experience, hence the Mac consideration.

What I'm considering is a black MacBook with 1GB of RAM, Cubase 4 and a pair of headphones without buying any extra soundcard.
