Cleaning up the noise in this Guitar track?

The noise is quite annoying. I recorded the guitar track with Simulanalog's amp plugin, the clean signal where my guitar - preamp - soundcard is noiseless but when I applied gain from the JCM, the noise starts.

Here's a sample, also, I've tried using Voxengo's Redunoise, but am stuck on using it, a bit newbie at this stuff.

That program can clean your guitar but u have to find
the right way to use it try each of the presets and
when u find one close to your need tweak it

I'd recomend just gating it and hoping that the mix drowns out the noise that creeps in during the sustained passages. That is a funny sounding noise. Not what I was expecting when I heard "guitar noise." Sounds like something went horribly wrong somewhere.

I had this kind of problem with a sound device recently. There were a number of likely causes and I haven't got around to resolving the issue. You could try to fix the sample by using Audacity's noise removal tool, and then EQ'ing and using VST effects to get it to sound right after noise removal.

I would just silence out the gaps in the track manually. It won't take that long. If you have a tool in your audio editor that can detect silence (I guess thats a form of a gate) then you could use that.
The guitar sounds ok by my ears with that back ground noise so unless you want to lose some of the sound by EQing or filtering that comes down to personal preference.

Rapirdshare can be a PITA. You have to scroll down and press the "free" button. Then you must enter code and everything should work fine.

Yeah, I've tried it but when its doing its thing, my tone sucks and I'm left with a phasy/funny sounding tone.

Nice idea, I would try that, but I still wanna lose a little of that noise, make it sound more heavy and flawless IMO, lose the sound my EQing/Filtering? I don't quite get that.

Sorry, "lose the sound" wasn't very clinical. I guess what I am saying is when you use a filter to to reduce some of the noise you are also reducing the guitar sound that occupies that same frequency. You really just need to re-record the track...check all your cables and connectors.

Checked thrice and still the same mate, no point putting it here though, doesn't make much difference. Dang. I loved that tone, but the noise, excruciating.

Hmm, I was wondering, maybe it was because I'm recording it through my mic input of my soundcard? Line input is better?

You need 2 things:
- A proper D.I. box or an instrument input on your soundcard (mic ins are NOT suitable for guitar signals).
- A proper line driver - or an instrument input on your soundcard.

If you don't have either of them, don't try to bother getting a halfway decent sound anymore.

A good and cheap solution will be M-Audio's Audiobuddy which works mighty fine for bringing guitar signals to line level.
