I think they should maybe make a low cost range of plugins also though because i know the waves plugins are thought of as very pro by some. Im probably wrong thoughI guess at the end of the day theres always going to be expensive stuff, just look at the 3d graphics programs, some are sold at very high prices(last time i looked)
why waves plugins cost that dam much ? i dont get it

$150 is still quite high in my opinion but is a reasonable price i guess, take a look at 3ds max costs -

Actually, they have 20 different Bundles, with various combination of plugins, ranging from $200.00 - $3,800.00 in price.Lunch Money wrote:$82 per plug-in is kind of misleading math. The bottom line is still $7,500.And are you actually going to USE all 91 plug-ins? How many of those are compressors, from which you'll pick your 1 or 2 favourites?

Yeah...AND...why it's usually brought up by people that will probably never buy them anyway. So it's a redundant question apart from passing interest. What I don't get, is why this topic seems to get brought up about once a month...

The $7500 one hasn't been released yet but was just announced a few weeks ago. I think it includes everything Waves makes, including the SSL plugins.John Vulich wrote:Actually, they have 20 different Bundles, with various combination of plugins, ranging from $200.00 - $3,800.00 in price.Lunch Money wrote:$82 per plug-in is kind of misleading math. There is something to be said for industry standards (Which it would seem Waves has established): Imagine you are a pro studio who gets clients in and out all the time. Imagine trying to track down lots of obscure plug-ins that may or may not be supported by a reliable software developer. A standard set gives some assurance of cross studio compatibility. Even if the only reason was that everyone else uses Waves- that is still a compelling reason for a commercial studio. Even if there are other options; as good or better- it doesn't really matter. An industry needs a standard. If you are just running a home project studio- use what ever you think sounds good and/or can afford. It seems Waves has a range of reasonable plug in bundles for that too. I use Izotope's Ozone. That was $200 by it self for 1 plug in. The Musician Bundle II or the Power Pack- from 150 to 400 dollar range seem very competively priced- and are for bundles of software. I think the fact that Waves acts as a lightning rod enforces the idea that they are good.. else why care? Maybe people are jealous. Remember, your plug-ins don't write good music- even $7000 ones.

There is also lots of expensive products of other types. Sometimes people like to buy them because exactly of that - high price. It's so because they can show their status...
Look at so called supercars like ones from Ferrari. They are nice and perform great. They are also very expensive but... a car doesn't have to be fast to look nice, nor fast to look nice. It doesn't have to be so expensive even...
Yet there're some what are willing to spend lots of $$ for thing what is basically piece of some metals and plastics.

my only real objection to waves is that it's not even a "real" ilok setup.......they are so possessive that they have to have a separate setup from the product and the registration.........
And what's the deal with the wup............who do they think they are........apple????
