I'm a registered user of Sytrus and I just installed the new version and when I try to launch Sytrus it instantly crashes the host (I've tried with Energy XT, VST Host and Tracktion 2).
I installed the new version without uninstalling the previous version so I thought this could have been the problem and decided to completely uninstall Sytrus and try again. I then found that Sytrus will now not uninstall! I've tried using it's own uninstall and doing it via the "Add/remove software" option on control panel but they both fail after showing a couple of green blocks in the uninstall progress bar.
Help!
EDIT: Fixed, cheers reflex!

It seems to work just fine here, in Cubase SX3, Live 5.2 and energyXT.
Can you tell me a bit more about your computer (processor & operating system, mostly).
Have you tried rebooting your computer before uninstalling?

Some more info for you. If I reinstall v2.2 over v2.3 I can then uninstall. After uninstalling I then tried rebooting my Laptop and reinstalling from scratch using the v2.3 installer and it still crashes every host I have available to me, I've now tested it on Energy XT Standalone, Energy XT VSTi/fx, Tracktion 2, VST Host, Savi Host, Cantabile, Making Waves and even FL Studio v6 demo. All programs instantly shut down when trying to initialise Sytrus. I also still can't directly uninstall v2.3 even after installing it from scratch, I have to install v2.2 over it first.
If I revert to v2.2 everything works perfectly.

Try this:
1. uninstall Sytrus
2. look for all instances of "Sytrus VSTi.dll" on your computer and delete them
3. reinstall Sytrus

Ah, we might be getting somewhere now! When I do this it becomes obvious that it's the installer that isn't working correctly on my machine. I noticed this time that I didn't get the "installation was a success" page (which when I think back I didn't get on earlier attempts either) and the installer just finishes without creating the dll. The install gets as far as filling the progress bar and then it just disappears. I'd not noticed before because the dll was obviously being left behind by previous installs.

I have the same problem with Cubase Sx, Forte and Kore. Everytime I load any program, Sytrus crashs the VST host. The uninstall program does not work, so I have to unsinstall manually and reinstall again, and follow without working. I will try to reinstall 2.0 again.

I did have an issue with the programs acting flakey on 1st launch of Sytrus in Cantabile. Everytime I selected a new program it would not change the program. I had to choose from the flyout menu "Reset all" for programs and then close Sytrus and re-open it and only then did it work. Is it possible that the crashes are related to the odd behavior of Sytrus' program changes and the other hosts that are crashing are doing so in spite of it?
I have loaded FXB's and FST files beyond factory defaults in my Sytrus prior to upgrading... Dont know if that would matter or not.

Hi grymmjack, I think your problem is unrelated to the problems Miguel and I are having, we don't even get to open Sytrus never mind use the preset system! I wish I could get far enough to have your problems!
With reflex's help I've narrowed it down to the installer not finishing and therefore not creating a new dll.

Does it install when you don't install the DXi version?

No. I never usually install the DXi version anyway because I have no DXi Hosts on my laptop other than the FL Studio demo which can use VST anyway. Last night, whilst trying to solve the problem I tried installing it with the DXi just in case that was possibly causing the problem but it did exactly the same hing and shut down the installer before creating the dll.

Could you try this installer?

It will show a series of messages during installation. I need to know the last one you see.

BTW for me Sytrus 2.3 installs the DXi version even though I select during the install process not to install it. I don't remember if this was the case with earlier versions too.

The Sytrus DXi dll file is always installed. The option determines if it's also registered as a DXi plugin, making it show up in the plugin list of any DXi-compatible hosts.jivamukti wrote:BTW for me Sytrus 2.3 installs the DXi version even though I select during the install process not to install it.
