When using the test installer I get two different results depending on whether or not I choose to install/register the DXi:

If I leave the DXi option checked the installer gets to "registering DXi version" before it stops and it doesn't create the VSTi dll.

If I uncheck the DXi option the installer does get to the final "install successful" screen and installs the VSTi dll but the created dll crashes my hosts when I try to load it.

Ok, so the Sytrus dll definitely fails to load on your computer. I'll create another test (might be tomorrow).

The Sytrus DXi dll file is always installed. The option determines if it's also registered as a DXi plugin, making it show up in the plugin list of any DXi-compatible hosts.
Aha. It'd be more logical if the dll wasn't installed, because it's not used. I delete it manually.

Registering the DXi means loading the dll. This apparently causes the installer to crash. The same happens when the VSTi version is loaded.

No worries, you've been fantastically helpful. I didn't really expect any assistance until Monday anyway! The fact that you've been offering help and advice over the weekend has impressed me tremendously. Thank you very, very much indeed, you've been superb. :)

Are you running an antivirus program? If so, which one?

Hello Reflex,
I do not run any antivirus, firewall, spydoctor, etc..

I am having the same issues as the way (I was tempted to say "I am having problems in the same way as the way" :ud:). My system specs are very similar and I use Tracktion 2. I have the McAfee Security Suite running and I have not needed to disable it for software installation before. Luckily I still had version 2.2 and it works after re-installation).

Reflex - will you post news about the solution here or do we need to watch the FL forum for more info? (KVR is my online drug of choice and I only go to get a hit somewhere else when I have to.)

Ok, it was little more than a guess.

I'll post here once it's fixed, or if I'd people to try out something that might give me clues about the cause.

Hi reflex, I couldn't respond earlier I've only just got in. I use Microsoft's Software Defender and I also have AVG installed. If I switch them off I still get the same problem.

Another question: did you install Sytrus to the default location? And the VSTi to the suggested location as well? Or did you use custom paths?

Post

I installed Sytrus in the default locations.

Can anyone who has this problem try the Sytrus VSTi dll from this link?

It's always a demo version (can't be registered), but it may help determine the cause.
