I'm very cranky.

Does anyone else notice the trend appearing? By 100 votes, they will be split @ 33% each ....

Next poll, thanks

(and may I suggest, a no-comment poll to boot, in order to avoid persuasion)

Yes, 33% would be interesting and tell a lot! So lets see (also, hence the importance of 100 votes or more). :D

How do you create a non-comment poll btw? Is that possible? I would actually like to hear people's comments so I think this is fine. Next poll will have more audible differences, I promise! (well, I try to change the audio clip to something easier to listen to, that is, more stereo elements, more elements in general).

Cheers!

A: "Veiled" in comparison to B & C. Less "immediate". Bass seems a bit tubbier with more overhang than B & C.

B: More "open," and cleaner than A. Punchier than A. Less bass tubiness (I don't mean like an actual "tube" sound, but rather "bloated". I.e: "Tubby")

C: Cleanest & Punchiest. Bass is "faster/quicker" with less overhang. More revealing & open sounding. My preference on this particular system (see below).

System: Event PSP8's in very quiet, painstakenly non-scientifically treated room, mostly with ASC tube traps. Monitors are also sitting on custom 16" ASC monitor stands, fed by a modified Adcom GFA535 amp (circa 1987) with no preamp; it's connected directly to an EMU 1820M. I mix relatively close to these monitors; about three to four feet, and they sound awesome in this setup. Haven't liked them as much in other setups.

I've been engineering for over 20 years and am also a drummer, so I know my ears aren't the greatest anymore, even though I've conciously protected them over the years. Even so, I can still hear differences in these arguably slightly different files. Thanks for posting this.

C sounds best. Although the transients of the clips are not really the best, in file C the transients are cleaner. I also have a slight impression of higher distortion inthe C-file transients. Therefore i'd guess, the transients are cleaner due to overtone processing.

Awesome descriptions guys!

I liked snippet B most, but I'm was using crappy PC speakers! The difference between them didn't seem striking.

Come on bmanic, spill the beans and let us know what this is all about :hyper:

Yeah. The cat wants out of the bag. Dish.
I have a cunning plan ...

I'm down with "C", clearer and punchier than the rest (although the differences sounded pretty subtle over here).
