YEAH!! :D I just took delivery of a drop dead minty fresh
Yamaha TX81Z and I'm loving it!! :) Its a perfect companion
to my EZ-EG as it has omni-recieve mode. Most of the factory
sounds are'nt my cup o' tea but I imagine I can come up
with some good ones on my own. Hrmn, I believe FM7 imports
TX sysex.

The ez trumpet has volume sensitivity that you can control with midi units.

So far, I'm most into the internal trumpet sounds. I just recorded a clip rockin' out!

I think that there is one on the Yamaha EZ site.

If not, I'm sure someone here could make one! ;)

I am getting the Yamaha EZ-EG after reading this thread. I use protools and have many virtual intrument programs that are controlled through a midi controller. Will this guitar work the same way as a simple keyboard controller to trigger sounds in these programs or is there additional hardware or software needed? Also has anybody triedf to get Pro Tools to ID the guitar as a midi controller source. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Post

Can't help you with Pro Tools but it does what you're
looking for just fine in Cubase and Nuendo.

BTW....you guys HAVE to check this out:

I don't know anything about Pro Tools, basically yes it's a MIDI controller, going out on 6 different channels, one per string.

Pro Tools should at least be able to receive messages as it would any device that you plug in via MIDI. However, the output of the EZ series can confuse some synths, which the third-party processor apps help immensely!

That EZclub Band is the BEST! :D

I am interested in using the ez-eg to be a controller for an organ module like a Micro B. Does anyone know if that will work or if there would be any problems? Please let me know. This is a great thread btw!! :)

Well here's the thing....the EZ's send data
on individual channels for each string.
Channels 1-6. Sooo to use it with hardware
modules they must either be able to receive
in omni or mono modes. Not all modules are
capable of this. I think it likely you will
have this problem with something like a dedicated organ module. There are devices*
available that will allow you to merge the
EZ's output to a single channel allowing you
to use it with ANY module.

Great! Thanks. Can it be used as a controller and bypass the strum feature. To do what I want to I really don't want/need to strum. But I didn't know if it would effect the signal somehow. Thanks again!!! Also, I have never done any midi programming, so if I decide to go this route, would it be difficult to progam the midi router?

No, you don't have to strum. I sometimes
two-hand tap on the "fretboard"....works
well, but strumming is cool too...a bit
more expressive. And "tremolo" bar is a
blast too! As far as programming the router
goes...don't know for sure yet because I
don't have the hardware just yet. Midi Solutions allows a free download of the
programmer software tho. I checked it outand it looks pretty straight forward
and easy to use. Its here:
