SSL has released eq plugins for Soundscape users. There's one that looks very much like the Waves SSL eq:

Demo's are announced to be available just about now...

I learned about this just after I purchased the Neve eq plugin for my UAD card. I wonder if I should have waited... I'm very happy with the Neve eq, but I use my UAD plugs a lot and reach the CPU limits more often than not, while I still have a lot of dsp power on my Mixpander card available.

SSL recently bought Soundscape so maybe there'll be more stuff coming out for it now.

Yeah, I know. They've actually announced on their forum that more plugs are coming soon. I hope (and expect) that there will be some compressor plugins amongst them.

Quick question? So Soundscape is a DSP solution that can run other stuff (like the UAD plug-ins, Audio Damage, Voxengo, etc.)? Am I just way off on this? If not, how does this work, and why haven't I heard of it?

You're way off. It runs it's own plugins like every other DSP solution on the market.

No, I just also have a UAD card next to my Soundscape gear.

You probably haven't heard of Soundscape, because it's a relatively small company. The company offers several products. On the high end, they have Pro Tools-like TDM systems (for audio, not for midi). They also have soundcards, and stuff in between.

I have a so called Mixpander Powerpack. It's a 19" breakout box with 24 analog inputs & outputs and several TDIF inputs & outputs, connected to a full length PCI card that has five dsp chips. It comes with a flexible modular mixer, that runs it's own plugins via the dsp's, which makes zero latency applications possible. The mixer also runs VST-plugins, but not from the dsp chips. I combine it with Cubase.

K, gotcha. When you go into the plug-in portion of the website it links to a whole bunch of other stuff, that I guess works in the mixer, but the mention of the mixpander above the links seems to deceptively imply, that the card itself is running the plug-ins.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but to make myself clear: the dsp-plugins actually are run on the Mixpander. VST plugs are run on the pc's cpu, but you can use them in the Soundscape mixer. Above the list of VST plugins, the Mixpander is indeed also mentioned. And, if that's what you meant, you're right that the VST plugs don't run on the Mixpander dsp's. And, for that matter, many more VST's run in the Soundscape mixer than mentioned in that list. Not only effects, but also instruments. Which is quite convenient when I'm playing my electronic drumkit and want to trigger Battery with virtually no latency.
