haha.. truth be told i had a good chunk of these ready before the developer challenge.. but it seemed fitting to give them all out during the voting period 8)

Well to be honest, you really deserve the price money. You're one of the few old freeware devs still around and still active. So I really hope you end up in the top three. And again, thanks! :)

Can I just replace the old versions without worries? I keep getting boned on upgrades screwing up old projects lately.

Post

I had lots of people ask this question to me, so I approached it the following way.
From here forward every Tweakbench dll will have the version number in the filename. Unless the update only changes something internally, and doesn't add or remove functionality.. it SHOULD work fine. The biggest problem with upgrades is extending the automation, and making old patches reverse compatible. It's very very tricky. For this release, some of these updates are 2+ years in the making though, so i'd backup whatever versions you have used previously, just in case.

I'm also going to be trying to collect all of the older versions of the Tweakbench plugins and host the old ones in a special area on the site, so if you find an old song that needs an old verison.. hopefully you can find the exact one you need to bounce the track!

Yes : thank you Tweakbench !
22 plugins, this must have been huge work !

I think i will keep some old versions as for some of them i prefer the older GUI (with generic UI, i never can put a face on a sound, and never remember the way it sounds...), but performance improvements & bugfixes are always welcome !
It is funny, the two vsti i use the mosts are the ones not being updated (Linus & Pressure) ;)

yeah.. i know that the different UI's make for a bit more 'personality' for each synth.. but i felt that on a whole it took away from them feeling like a suite of software.. all I can do is hope to lure you to upgrade with new features i guess ;)

yep.. lots of people apparently still use some of the older ones, i just personlly found them not so inspiring, and/or too difficult to maintain and get operating smoothly for everyone. Ritual is really the next generation Pressure. It does all of the things I wanted Pressure to do and then some. Once i have the past-versions section of the site up, you'll be able to dig through older versions and download those as you please!

Yes, Ritual is good, but to be honnest, as it is more polyvalent, it got a bit drowned among my "vintage analogue" vsti folder. I think i mighn't have tested it deeply like i should have to discover its ful potential, but i like to have on one hand Pressure for 'straight to the point and cutting well in a mix' kinda stuff, and on the other hand Padawan and Linus for more 'abstract pads, sound efx, sinewaves, etc'. In fact, i rarely use too polyvalent stuff ;) !

Don't worry, i have kept it !

Yes, and cpu ;)

I, for one, love the consistent GUIs.
