i've got my mix just like i want it.everything has a place. there's even a bit of dynamics. but there's no high end clarity. i'm sure you know what i'm talking about (even though i have no idea how to explain it). it's like breath. any way to get this for free?

Crysonic Spectralive is what you need. But it's not free

loveless, i tried all my eq's. i got the results with eq22 (time to re-vote) eq22 is doing more than eq'ing. it's fixing things somehow
melody man, i've tried it before and i just tried it again. i can't find a combination to get what i want
the steven, i asked them for a copy a while back. the reply might have gotten lost in the spam folder. i've just sent another email
thanx all!

well for something out of left field:
try a filtered delay line set very very short, ~10ms.
Turn the feedback all the way up (or close)
bandpass the delay result, maybe center on 8k?
this creates an almost pad sound behind your leads (guitar)
?
you can boost or reduce the wet signal to taste.
-edit-
So it doesn't actually clarify things, but if you set the filter high enough, it adds "sparkle"

Ouroboros, Interesting technique.
I'll have to check it out sometime.
PlParEQ is an excelent EQ, but I was referring to Refined AudioMetric's Class module. It can add a nice 'clarity' to the top end of your mix without making it sound 'effected'. I've tried a number of exciters and its the only one I use. If they're still giving it out, definitely get it.
The CLAS/NR (which is not free) is the same module with additional noise reduction built-in.

It's DX only; to use it in a VST host you'd have to use something like FFX4 or Console.

1. HarBal
2. Spectralive + GPP (Kjaerhus Peak Pressor)
3. Spectraphy (limiter)
Sounds pretty great to me.
