I was wondering if there were any sample sets, sample discs, downloads, loops, and/or synth presets in existence designed for EBM music? I've scoured the internet searching for such things, yet haven't really found much. You'd think by now that there would be sample cd's and synth presets that were intended for EBM. If anyone knows of any, please point me in the right direction!

So this post has been viewed 19 times, but no one replies? Perhaps this is because there were 19 people who were hoping to FIND EBM sounds at this post. Seems to me that perhaps there is an untapped market here....I'm sure there are a fair amount of people who would rather have some EBM sounds to use to start making tracks, instead of tweaking and abusing dance samples and trance synths until they fit one's needs!

Post

If I was doing EBM, I'd rather make my own sounds. Silly me, wanting to sound original.

What's EBM?

Electronic Bullshit Music

Electronic Body Music

As if that's any less stupid of a name.

thanx John ...
I resorted to Google ... i really had never heard the term EBM before

Electronic Body Music
The style was characterized by hard and often sparse dancable electronic beats, clear undistorted vocals, shouts or growls with reverberation and echo effects, and repetitive sequencer lines. At this time important synthesizers were Korg MS-20, Emulator II, Oberheim Matrix or the Yamaha DX7.

Haha...yes, to think that ANY MUSIC any of us do is original is indeed SILLY. I've seen so many threads on this forum where people debate this issue time and time again. Look, everyone should be honest with themselves...music has been taken as far as it can go...tempos have been taken to extremes...doom bands so slow that you can barely recognise a time signature at all....Dn'B acts and grindcore bands playing so fast that the beat is no longer recognizable either. Tones and sounds have been mutilated to the point where one can be unsure whether a track can be called 'music' or not...such as so many dark ambient tracks that sound like some guy farting through convolution. Every vocal style that can be done with the human voice has already been exploited. There are only so many notes, so many time signatures, so many chord progressions. Do you honestly think for one second that the melodies and chord progressions you use in any of your songs haven't appeared in other tunes throughout history? That's why all of these so called 'music genres' that exist these days are hybrids of styles that have come before them...its merely a vain attempt to be 'original.' Basically, any music created by anyone is simply guided by their own personal tastes in what they want to hear as an individual. People compose songs based on what they enjoy listening to themselves, and write music because they enjoy it. Period. Its an individual form of self-expression.....nothing more, nothing less. Compose whatever you like...use any melodies or chords you want to...process your tracks as you see fit....and enjoy yourself. But don't lie to yourself and think for one second that you aren't treading musical ground that someone has walked on long before you. The purpose of my post was to see if I could find sounds to use conveniently for my tracks, instead having to 'Frankenstein' together samples from numerous sources. We should all be on this forum to help each other out in making whatever type of music we enjoy creating....not waiting to see which posts we can leave smart-ass comments on...because in the end, it comes down to this...we are all musicians of some sort on this forum, and that is something we all have in common here.

Uh yeah... whatever.

Anyway, there are several industrial sample CDs that are available, that I would imagine would be usable for EBM.

Have you checked out Skinny Puppy's "Skinned" or Haujobb's "Matrix"?

Uh yeah...anyhow, I have checked out 'Skinned', but I wasn't to impressed with what I heard. I haven't checked out the "Matrix" disc you spoke of....I'll have to do a search and look into that. I use the term EBM loosely...as I'm currently more into the newer, aggressive "Hellektro" style stuff like Unter Null, Die Sektor, etc. I'm not into these 'music labels' too much...I just like what I hear, and only use these genre terms for descriptive purposes. Thanks for bringing Haujobb to my attention.

Thanks Hitman8081...those drums were exactly the kind of percussion I'd like to use.

Enough with these stupid splinter genres. "Hellektro"? Give me a break.

I agree entirely...the name 'Hellektro' sound ridiculous, as does all of these other things such as futurepop, techno, etc. It's just industrial stuff to me, really...as I said, I only use those terms descriptively so I can get on common ground when discussing samples, synths, or whatever.
