Yo y'all:

I'm posting the new edition of Texas Music Forge for November and have a .zip file posted for your dining and dancing pleasure full of outtakes including rhythm section loops and a bunch of harmonica samples. You can download 24 Mb of sonic splendor at:

www DOT texasmusicforge DOT com/music/samples/TexasMusicForge_14.zip

Please note I break up the URL to avoid having it harvested by spambots.

This month's .zip file contains 16 samples of harmonica phrases in D, D minor and G minor. Some of these are rhythmic phrases that are at tempo and very loopable. The rest are stingers of 5 to 10 seconds and would make great segue music for your podcast, TV, movie or other audio production work. These can also be added in on top of your dance music productions to add some grit and soul where necessary. There are some very audible breath and throat noises in some of these but I think that just adds some grit and a little human touch.

There are also 4 rhythm section loops culled from songs which might be of interest to songwriters or for putting together a tune to practice noodling on your guitar, sax, harmonica, nose flute, tuba or other instrument of destruction.

These are all 16 bit .wav files and, as always, are offered under a Creative Commons license which means use 'em as you see fit but please give me notice and a credit if you use them for commercial purposes. Packaging any of these for inclusion with commercial sample sets or libraries is prohibited and will get you tied up and dragged behind my horse.

Best regards to all,

Sorry, that bunch of harp loops were recorded in one pass just to provide a bunch of stingers for one of the stories in the magazine - I didn't play those against any kind of a backing track and most of them were going to be atempo, I just spontaneously decided to lay on a few riffs with some kind of rhythm for inclusion with this .zip file. I'd guess they'd be pretty close to 110 or 115 bpm.

Well....pretty convenient timing for this thread to pop up again. Glad to hear of a dub-wise producer matching me up with those riddims. Blaze one for me while you're at it...

If y'all like what I do, please see the other Texas Music Forge thread on this forum regarding the release of a series of harmonica loop and sample sets at a very reasonable $5.00 per set. My partners at LoopLibrary have posted my three new sets of chromatic harmonica loops this morning. These would be Irie sitting in a mix in any dancehall, dub or other Caribbean dance music styles.

I'm going to leave the free sample set of harmonica files on the server for another couple of weeks - grab 'em now because I doubt I'll be posting quite this much free material from now on.

Best regards to all,

Ed
