cubase fixed loop?

this should be simple.. when looping some bars the blue area will appear.. theres start point and end point.. and to zoom or move left/right u have to click and drag on that ruler.. but u can accidentally click little bit higher right on top of that ruler so pencil tool will apeear to draw new loop section and the old one will be reseted.. this is pain in the ass really.. anyhow this could be sloved? i mean is there a way to nail this loop section?

Why don't you try using Key Commands, that way you won't have to click anywhere. You can find/modify them under file/Key Commands... and you could also read the operation manual. I don't use Cubase and I looked these up in about 5 minutes:

You can move forwards/backwards with Pad +/-, zoom in/out with H/G, and if you want to set the markers you have to hold Ctrl for the left and Alt for the right.

Why not create a loop marker for the section you're working on, with that done there is an easy way to set the SP/EP to that loop marker - forget the details ATM but think that it can be done easily just by hitting ctrl and the marker number - i.e. <ctrl + 4> would set the sp/ep tabs around loop marker 4.

I agree though - it's far too easy to screw up your sp/ep tabs in that ruler - I've learned to avoid it by finding other ways to do what I want, like aldio mentioned.

and....in answering the crux of your question, AFAIK there is no way 'lock' the sp/ep tabs.

i c.. well i thought it's not possible otherwise i think there would be a bit of that in manual but there wasn't.. i guess i need to start using those keys.. why it's pain in the ass is that i have autoscroll turned off all the time.. thanx guys!

even if there are workarounds to this problem, it's still extremely stupid ergonomics bug. It happens to me all the time as well. Usually the accidental loop will be like 3 SMPTE frames as well.

I tend to use Key Commands for this kind of thing quite often, especially "P", and I assign "L" to "Loop Selection. And you can use ctrl+1 & ctrl+2 to set your loop start and end points, respectively. Get the Key Commands down, and the mouse becomes almost irrelevant. However, I find you get better with the clicking as time goes by.

indeed, key commands are the solution. but they don't completely eradicate the problem. You know I never actually set loop area from the ruler, but the loop gets changed by accident nevertheless.

It's almost a rule that when I quickly select something from the top track, I reset the loop.
