Toneport KB37 is out!

You can only have 2 mono inputs at a time, or one stereo input. There are different ways to connect them (mic jack, instr. jack, line ins) but at the end of the day, only 2 mono/1 stereo. Applying stereo effects still allows them to be 2 signal paths, though, resulting in output of 2 full stereo (ie. 4 channels) signals.
Pretty standard for the kind of device it is. The "monitor in" is actually quite handy for its intended purpose.

Thanks LM. Final nail in the coffin of the KB37 for me thought, as I need more inputs than that.
As a side note/question/statement, why is it so hard to find actual spec for those type of consumer products? Only marketing blabla, do they think we're too stupid to read spec sheet (and I'm not talking only about Line6 here)?

No, that wasn't me.

I totally agree. I was looking for the SNR before buying the TonePort, and it was nowhere to be found. Talking to Line 6 support was an exercise in futility, because I asked what the quality of the preamps was like, and they kept trying to tell me about the models when what I wanted was the actual analog-to-digital converter, and REAL pre-amp quality and SNR. Fuggedabudit. A few other people had the same experience when pursuing similar answers.
At the end of the day, I took the chance, and somewhere along the way I found that it was somewhere around -100. It's been a great little unit. The KB37 doesn't suit my needs, but I can imagine it being great for other people.

Why not just buy a mixer? It makes everything more flexible. You are nto going to find any keyboard with built-in I/O that does more than a KB37.bullshark wrote:Thanks LM. Final nail in the coffin of the KB37 for me thought, as I need more inputs than that.
Whaddya mean? I had no problem whatsoever finding all the info I needed on the UX2. I have a mixer, but I fail to see how they make things more flexible. If you screw up your mix on the first take, that's it, you're screwed.BONES wrote:Why not just buy a mixer? It makes everything more flexible.
You're probably right. It just means those things are not for me.You are nto going to find any keyboard with built-in I/O that does more than a KB37.
Ask? Ask who? I don't wanna ask anybody about anything, that's the whole point, I just wanna see the spec before I buy something so that I know exactly what I'm buying.Whaddya mean? It will look good onstage. Those little silver keyboards dont fit onstage in this city...............
How do you change presets from it? On my ozone I can use the keys to send program changes, but I dont see a way of changing presets from the kb 37. Of course I can bend over to the laptop , find the mouse knob, direct it to the preset list, and then scroll down all the way to preset nr 112, then find the left click button on the laptop and click it. Its simple:)

Or can sequence your program changes. With the KB37 and UX2 you can change up/down via one of two foot-switches that can be attached.
Surely taht woud be true most of the time anyway, wouldn't it? I assumed you could only play one instrument at a time so you would only be recording one at a time. I like using my mixer different ways in different situations. At home I run the mixer into my audio device but on stage I run the PC audio into the mixer because it make sit easier to adjust levels on the fly.bullshark wrote:I have a mixer, but I fail to see how they make things more flexible. Then why didn't you look HERE? Pretty comprehensive run-down if you ask me.I just wanna see the spec before I buy something so that I know exactly what I'm buying.

You looking for reason "NOT" to buy the product? Or you just talking yourself out of being "interested" in this product? If you don't think it's good for you, it probably isn't. That simple enough? Knowing all the "specs" would do nothing if you've already made up your mind.Ask? Ask who? that's one stereo input or two mono ... the two monos can be line mic or both.bullshark wrote:thecontrolcentre, what do you mean by "no more than 2 ins"? Is that 2 mono in at a time, or 2 stereo that can be split for a total of 4 mono input at the same time?
I thought the VU meters on my new one were acting up today ... there's a shadow moving across the dials every now and then.
After looking at it for a few minutes I realised that there's a bug inside the machine ...
i think it's a moth!!!
dunno how the f**k i'll get that out ... or how it got in there

I have the e-mail thread of my experience with them posted in the Raw Material Software forum. It sounds like we talked to the same idiot at Line6. Here's my interchange with them:

I didn't take the plunge - I don't like to buy things from idiots. At least I haven't had the same experience with PreSonus.

Fair enough, and I can't blame you in the least. On the other hand, the features won me over and I pretty much just hoped that the support call-centre worker's idiocy couldn't be traced all the way back to idiot engineers. I trusted that the engineers were at least smart enough to have an "acceptable" SNR and so forth.
I've been quite happy with the thing so far. I'm lusting after a "better" and different device with better pre-amps, though, so I'm considering the plug-in instead.

If I had that attitude I would never buy anything. I just bought a UX2 to see what it was like so that I could decide whether or not to wait for a KB37. I'm really glad that I did. BTW, there is a bypass button on the top-right of GearBox that bypasses everything, amp/cab/pre models included. When teh KB37 is released I'm pretty sure I will get more for my UX2 on ebay than I paid for it.rockstar_not wrote:I didn't take the plunge - I don't like to buy things from idiots. Perhaps I'm more stringent when applying the word 'idiot' to someone. If you read the exchange that I had with Line6, you will see that they said the opposite of what you say about bypassing amp/preamp modelling on the UX2.
I don't know who to believe.
The person at Line 6 didn't even seem to understand the concept of signal to noise ratio.

Yeah, but I didn't buy from Line 6, I bought it from some idiot on ebay. I don't buy stuff to get support. In fact, if I thought I might ever need support I wouldn't bother in the first place.
