...and while I'm exploring the new features and getting used to the new look (I'm not sure I like it better; it's easier on the eyes, but I might be 'homesick' a little to how SX3 looks) a few questions pop up. Probably more will come up, but I liked to post these first.
Do all - or perhaps most - things work the same as before? I mean, I've opend a few SX3 projects, but after a few minutes fiddling I didn't run into things I had to look up workflow-wise. Anybody ran into something worth mentioning?
I found my dither plugin UV22hr in the Earlier VST Plugins folder. Is that replaced by some other plugin?
I also noticed that a multi-output vsti like Battery loads only with one stereo channel. I haven't found how to add channels to that.

Isn't the "Earlier VST Plugins folder" for VST 2.x plugins?

@ ozinga: using the vsti rack didn't really make a difference, except that I had to add a midi track next to the vsti output track.
@ Dominus: you could be right, indeed. But that would mean that Monologue and Embracer are VST 3 now...

ther is a little button next to the blue e on the vst rack - if you select that you can choose which outputs to activate
it defaults to one stereo
if you use program change messages a lot the channel for that has moved
err pretty much everything else that used to work still does afaik

I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Meanwhile, I've fiddled a bit with the new synths. It's way too early to give a final comment, but my first impression made me quite enthusiastic. The synths seem to complement each other fairly well, and as the presets show, they're apable of more than only bread-and-butter sounds.
And Halion Player is a giant leap from the Universal Sound Module

I like it a lot... but there is one thing that i consider jaw droping from now till god knows when: AmpSim!!! this plug rocks.
Cubase has imported flawlesly a SX3 project, only a DX plug was left out, no prob i loaded the VST version, it couldn't be probably some mono version Cube couldn't find.
The EQ is from sweet deep to stingy and everything in the middle.
I'm trully happy with this one... oh the Manual and the box, another classy touch.

I like that. That was only a minor thing, but it bugs me no end when you open up a multitimbral instrument and you get a whole screenful of channels that you never use and have to go through and invisiblize each and every one.it defaults to one stereo
That's a neat workflow improvement to me. Another nail in the coffin of my SX2.

Hmm interesting,, I Still dont see moving from SX2.. I mean that is a cool little update, since I have spent time removing the extra channels from Battery or whatver, but I 'm not sold yet.. And becasue of just pure laziness and the fact I am getting off(line) now.. WHat is the update cost form SX2to Cubase 4???? IN US $ if anyone is so kind to save me 5 seconds!!kritikon wrote:I like that.
