vstscan is hanging on certain plugs and i then cannot use them in sonar.

the plugs i have noticed are hanging it are all the izotope stuff, and some smart electronix freebies. there are probably a lot more that do it i am guesing

is this a bug?

Post

i removed the said plugs and it seems almost half of my vsts have this problem in vstscan in both sonar 6 and 6.01. f**k.

You wouldn't liek to tell us which ones they are would you. Then we could have aguess if it's your machine or the plugins....

okay sorry should have been more specific

u can actually discard my last post . ive tested everything again and have found the only plugs i have that cause vstscan.exe to f**k up are the izotope ones
when i remove these everything is fine (i get a few warnings for some others but everything loads okay)

also the izotope plugs i have are not registered (you have to run them for the first time to register), so maybe something in the registration is stopping them from being scanned.

i would use a different host to open them up and register them then try again with sonar but alas i dotn have a different host right now

I have the izotope suite and the scan works ok for me. But since these are not registered yet, what is likely happening is that there is a dialog that the izotope plugs are displaying that is being masked by the vst scanner or sonar splash screen. try Alt tab a few times. otherwise, you can just kill the process and kick off the scan when sonar is launched.

No problems here with the Izotope plugins. I did a complete reinstall on desktop machine this weekend and I authorized them with S6. Maybe you should try posting something on the Cakewalk forums or emailing/calling tech support.

okay i registered the izotope plugins in winamp (32bit) and now the vstscan.exe goes past them fine, it gives me a warning for the 64-bit versions but i can enable them anyway

now, when it gets to the sonalksis plugs, it hangs! this wasnt happening before!!

Post

this is totally bogus

r u on win x64?

Post

I have X64, but dont use it regularly...

Post

well r u running sonar 64 on x64? maybe it is is related to the os/64bit version

btw i can launch sonar but when i do the scan the same thing happens. i have tried reinstalling sonar and the sonalksis plugs several times now

Download Audacity and the Audacity VST enabler. They're both free. You can run your VST's in that and register, then run them in Sonar.

Just Google them.
