Hello,

just wondering how panorama users use this plugin.

I am trying the demo - and it seems that I cannot get 'in-front-of-head' locations. I know that this is a typical problem of binaural systems.

What I am trying to do is to locate a set of virtual speakers around me - but they are all behind me - the front flip to back.

moving signal sources along a path seems to work somehow, but the static thing seems to be difficult.

Anyone any experience?

Thanks

Is the issue you are having one of perception (i.e. you place the sound in front but it sounds like it's in the back) or the plug-in is flipping the location unexpectedly?

Which HRTF are you using?

Post

Hello,

thanks for chiming in :-)

no, it is not flipping but it seems it is always in the back hemisphere :-)
I put to headphones and used the first 3 or four HRTFs, starting with kemar.

let me describe what I did :
I took 4 stereo sends (as Panorama is only stereo) and put in four panoramas. I set the virtual speakers (sources) set up an octophonic setup - but speaker 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 4 and so on being neighbours. As this always should be left and right I send in signals hard panned left and right into the 4 stereo buses. first I turned the reverb off (earlies left on) - so ....

They all went to the same stereo out to headphones.

so I hoped that I would now hear the sounds coming from the 8 different angles (of octophonic setup) but I could only perceive it from the 5 of the back hemisphere.

the sounds I use are noise-zapps/pulses through a 42 band filterbank that slowly changes to a resonant model of a string.

thus far ....

thanks
