I had to stay offline yesterday and was mortified that I didn't vote before the deadline. I didn't start looking at plugins until last week so it was a bit of a rush for me. Apologies to all concerned.

Anyway, a big thank you to ALL the developers, the people at KVR, and the generous music companies who have given everybody a prize. Special congratulations to the top three developers. 8)

My choice would have been a mixture of Triple Cheese, Anna, Fire, Ritual, Reson8 and Mini-Vyn. (An incidental pleasure was talking to Stefan about Anna because I think computing is akin to witchcraft - even if the witchcraft is CPU-heavy!) :hihi:

All of the plugins helped me to enjoy music even more - so I think KVR's competition was a complete success, for surely that's the whole point of the plugins and indeed this website?

Kudos to all (plus shame-faced apologies). :)

My #1 vote was for Triplecheese, and I'm glad that it won. It is usable on my 366 mhz clamshell iBook and it is easy to create great-sounding patches on it. It has more of a physical modelling approach than other synths I've used (including other u-he synths), which makes it interesting to use.

Of course, my voting choices were limited because I'm a Mac user (G4 desktop & ancient iBook). Seeing that the first and third place winners both run on Macs, I wonder how much of a factor that was. I'd like to think that there's a lesson there for developers, as to the benefits of supporting both platforms.

I see what you mean.. but at the same time I wonder what the "benefit" would be for freeware developers. Developing for both platforms requires a lot of extra development time, an even bigger load of research and learning time and a significant extra investment in hardware.

Seeing that in this day and age the inherent value of freeware to most users is often less than the time it takes to vote or write a "thank you" email I'm not so sure it's worth it to freeware devs. :?

For commercial projects it's different ballgame, though and you could very well be right.

Congrat's to the winners, and a huge thanks to tuz and KVR for making the whole thing happen :) Must do this again, and thanks for letting me take part in the competition.

 Guessed wrong! I thought for sure LBB and pushtec would be up there ? Great job guys, and thanks for all the cool plugins from all the others who entered :) Big fun.

I hope you do.

It is only right and fair that the actual voters get to see the results of the poll, considering we were the ones voting for the candidates, and we were the ones who fronted the prize money.

Come on Tuz, do the right thing. :p

Maybe next time it would be good to have seperate categories for FX and instruments?

Post

I'd like to see all the other VST instruments and effects too.. I don't want any effort left unnoticed, and I strongly feel there should be a post dedicated to all the other devs.

Post

im also interested in download statistics of the entries

Post

congratz and thanks to ALL devs! and also big thanks to tuz and ben for setting this up! :)

i have to say that i found use for every plugin (i tend to have a big freebie folder anyway), so the real winner is me.. coz i got more stuff to play with. ;)
