When artworks clash and do battle, there will always be a sour taste in the mouths of the losers because really, there is no way to say which ones are better. To state the obvious, it's not like a race where there is a clear winner by defined criteria.
that's so true that I, like others did, suggest the categories for voting, best fx, best synth, best GUI, etc...
at least it should be less harder to compare,

maybe the few voters are for that too,

BTW I didn't vote, it seemed strange to me to vote since I entered the DC with my thing

ah, and this is for those who voted for C&P:
***Thanks!***

1. Collide & Play (Luigi)

hey Frank..I voted for Collide for number one as well..as I thought it was pretty inovative. I hope Luigi does more stuff like that..and never even knew he was interested in algorithmic stuff!!

But..Congrates to all the winners. I thought it was a cool contest. I created a folder inside my VST folder called Dev contest, so I know where the plugs are :-)

Tim
Absolutely! That thing was all kinds of cool. Very relaxing as well. :)

Peace 8)

When artworks clash and do battle, there will always be a sour taste in the mouths of the losers because really, there is no way to say which ones are better. To state the obvious, it's not like a race where there is a clear winner by defined criteria.
I disagree completely. This kind of competition is not full of abstracts. There are some very measurable things that come into play. The rest are judged solely for whatever technical merit the voters prefer most. The fairness in that stems from the fact that different voters wanted, needed and thought very different things. So the most commonly agreed upon creations came out on top.

There were some plugins that in my book were going straight to the bottom (no offence :) but Balthor was #1 in that category being a simple sample player) and then there were others that I thought were pretty cool, but didn't really have any place for in my collection, then there were the ones that I straight up liked and needed etc.

Reson8 (an SE plugin  )was my #1 because I haven't come across such a big, tweakable and versatile resonator like that, and I REEEALLY wanted for a good (free) one. Nothing I had even came close. That was MY way of voting. Balthor obviously fell into #1 for someone who though it was the best sounding piano THEY had ever heard, and that was their pick. Someone else felt that the Pondular was a wicked and novel graphics toy, and chose that. That's all fine.

Then there were the plugins that many of us thought were really good: period, and those are the ones that won out. Point is everyone's idea of the best plugin had different motive, and that's fair, I think. If you look at after-posts, some guys liked Superrubish, MASB Compressor, or whatever best, things that another person wouldn't even have considered. In such a wide field of motive, the ones that are most commonly chosen by the most people truly deserve to win. Maybe they're not the "best" or biggest, or even most novel, but they were the ones that most people like most, and that was the whole point, I think  :)
